Independence honour to be conferred on Indira
Star Online Report: The cabinet Tuesday decided to confer Bangladeshs highest honour Bangladesh Swadhinata Sammanona upon former Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi for her outstanding contribution to Bangladeshs independence.
President Zillur Rahman will formally hand over the honour and Citation.
Sonia Gandhi, Congress president and daughter-in-law of Indira Gandhi, will receive it at Bangabhaban on July 25.
PMs Press Secretary Abul Klam Azad briefed reporters on the cabinet decision after the meeting.
During her Dhaka visit, Sonia Gandhi will attend a conference on autism organised by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical Universitys Centre for Neurodevelopment and Autism in Children and Autism Speaks Global Autism Public Health Initiative.
Earlier, the government decided to confer 47 persons and five organisations for their outstanding contributions to Bangladeshs Liberation War marking the 40th anniversary of the Independence.
