Ayub khan had inaugurated electric Trains in Pakistan

Pakistan got 29 of these units starting in 1964. Their serial numbers were 7001 to 7029. These units could only be used on the 276 km route between Lahore and Khanewal as only this length of Pakistan’s Rail network is electrified.
These locomotives work on AC (alternating current) traction of 25000 Volts.

Yaar i know but they didn't work and that's a long time ago...

Muhammad Omar, are there 4 railway lines all the way or is it just for a particular section. Also has it been electrified?

Salam

Actually there's 5 tracks because the picture is off station Prem Nagar.... there's only one lane track between Raiwind till Lodhran now it'll be 2 :)

sometimes I wonder how far ahead Pakistan would've been if Ayub Khan had stayed on President till he passed away.....

Ayub khan was development tycoon ... He launched and completed too many projects in Pakistan within his short span of time .. I think Our GDP would've been more than doubled if he stayed in power till his death ,..

Later his massive work in development in Industrialisation and private sector was destroyed by Bhutto nationalisation plan

.
Against the common belief, Bhutto was a leech and the worst thing that happened to Pakistan. That arrogant creature single handedly damaged Pakistan beyond comprehension

Yes, the first since the British made the one that existed before!! Its actually pretty sad to see NO development for like 70 years!!

But, hey, something is happening now, so I guess its never too late.

Ayub khan had inaugurated electric Trains in Pakistan.

I've seen the engineering models of that entire plan. That was really a "prototype" not a nation wide network that had to be deployed. Consider it a Metro type of a project prototype!!

The real rail line and the infrastructure was done by the Brits. And so was the only main highway artery (the Grand Trunk road I believe?).

NS's government in each time expanded the infrastructure from Motorways, to CPEC to Rail lines, to Metro buses, etc, etc. This isn't a political statement, nor do I really care for who runs Pakistan. But the credit should be given where its due. People in power who strategically think, plan, and execute, result in benefiting millions of common people.
