In China, an App About Xi Is Impossible to Ignore — Even if You Try

Cute! You are naive to the level of a 10th grade. :partay:

If that is what you really think, you basically have no more idea than a 18 yo first time voter about American political systems, let alone Chinese politics.
Spare me the false sophistication common to naive and inexperience college kids. But if you are willing to go there, how much control the Chinese people have over their governments considering you are perfectly fine with a single party? Oops, I almost forgot you are convinced that a single party is all that is needed. But if so, then why have a political party at all? Why not just ban all parties and made it official in the Chinese constitution?

.
Regardless of what this 'social credit' system is for, the fact that China believes it is necessary is a sign of authoritarian control and that there is really no widespread resistance among the people. No resistance is a good thing for the Chinese leadership. It means a compliant citizenry at least to this one aspect of citizenry control. That compliant mentality is reflected in this forum. So today, this app is for Party members, tomorrow, it might just be compulsory for all. If this app is compulsory for all, would YOU approve?

in general, most corporations have training department, provide formal training for new staffs to familiar with his work, old staffs to keep up with new technology. as you know, it's easy to feel nervous by the relentless march of technology in China. CCP is policy maker, if one CCP member have no idea what this new techonoly means, How to make a decision?
for exmaple, nuclear fusion technologies, one scientist provided a three days course for Political bureau and dozens of students. it's very useful to policy maker. it's also very useful for local government policy maker in every province, they can understand how many componments are used in nuclear fusion technologies, which componment should be invested in.
in China, the Political bureau needn't assign project or task to every province, they just make a technicial issue list, every provice or cities will check this list, and try to catch the related research budget. but every level government officials should understand the detail information about nuclear fusion technologies. this kind of detail information is very technicial, you have to sit there as a colledge students , study hard severy days, raise question after the course.

CCP is policy maker, so every CCP member should keep up the latest techologies. it's reasonable.

.
You are exactly as what I said, a brainwashed old man. Chinese government is made up by more comprehensive elements from all walks of life and they get there from decades of hardworking and accumulated credits of achievements started from the bottom, thus the government is more responsive to people's needs and social issues. US government is made up by privileged class, tycoons and billionaire like Donald Trump and Bush family, they only care about their personal gains and how to get into the office, average people don't have much to say in running the country.
Looks like you just described a system that enabled corruption so bad that Xi had to implement a crackdown that serves nothing more than a political purge to consolidate his power.

Then why do you call yourselves 'communists', meaning why does your Party associate itself with Marxism when everything about your country is anything but Marxism? Why not just admit you are a system of authoritarian technocrats?

As for the control over the government, here is what I can think of:
1. Post feedback or suggestions through this very APP;
2. Call Mayer's hotline;
3. Call or write to district people's representative;
4. Bitching on social media. If there are enough noise on a legit cause, things get changed overnight;

In theory, party consists of leaders with the same ideology from every walk of life, and a society needs leaders to progress. I though this is in Social Study 101. If the number of parties is the indication of a good governance, I am sure India beats USA hands down. You are a veteran, but.... You know what I wanted to say.

If Americans truly had any control over their governments, we wouldn't have stuck with the same median income for the last 20 years, while Chinese increased theirs 20 times. And we wouldn't have spent 6 trillion on stupid wars rather than on our infrastructure. We can't build shit here, while China has built 15,000 miles HSR in just 10 years.

As for the control over the government,...
Please...:rolleyes:

Your government says you can have only one child and you complied with practically no resistance. Before the one-child policy was lifted, I met a Chinese couple when we were Micron employees in Idaho. I did not know them for long because we parted ways after a few months. They have a daughter and although they love her, they admitted disappointment that they did not have a son. I asked if being overseas gave them any exemption to the law and they said no. I did not know if that was true or not, or if they were misinformed or not. Maybe they were completely wrong. But that is not the point.

The point is how much intrusion into personal lives does your government get away with it because of your compliance to practically anything the Party says. Yes, I know about the over population reasoning. But your government did care about persuasion, only power. Birth control methods do have a failure rate, nothing is perfect, so my Chinese friends had to plan the intimacies of their married lives out of fear of what the Chinese government would do to them when they return to China.

So what is it like to grow up without a sibling, eh? Your generation is now the first Chinese generation to grow up without the actual experience of having extended families of uncles and aunts. Of course you have no idea how sad that is because you are in psychological compliance of whatever the Chinese government want to do TO you. Not necessarily for you. I have a brother and sister in Florida. They are married with their own families. If I say to my brother-in-law 'I need you', he would cross CONUS the next day. Not to say my sister would do nothing. She would do the same. But that is the point -- that I have family ties that most Chinese in this generation will never know because of your government.

So no, you do not have as much control over the Chinese government as well as you think you do. When -- not if -- this Party affiliated app is made compulsory for all Chinese citizens, you WILL comply. Resistance is (psychologically) futile.

Gosh... Compared to Trump and the rethoric coming out of the white house, Xi sounds like a prophet. :angel:

LOL, this is just as silly as claiming Americans don't have any control of their government, because US builds Ford class carriers at the cost of 37 billions instead of writing a $100 check to every citizen of USA.

On a more serious note, I didn't agree many things that Chinese government did, including the way one child policy was carried out, though it was a necessary evil at that time. And not, I WILL NOT support the mandatory installation of this APP on private citizens.

Corrupt officials in China go to jails in thousands while in US money can buy everything, can even buy you a 5 star hotel luxury suite in US prison, with money you can get away with even murders, US election system is a farse, the two parties dominate US government and the laws they made rule out all possibilities for a third party to get any real power and those two parite made by only privileged elite groups have no difference at all, are very much like just one party. US democracy is the biggest farce in the world, which low IQ people with little or zero administrative experience very often paid their way to the white house.

I did not asked if you support it. I said you will have no choice but to use it WHEN it becomes compulsory.

It is interesting that you are confident enough to conclude there shall be a "WHEN"? Will you stop passing your judgments on China's politics if that WHEN won't come, say in 3 years? :partay:
