August 27, 2009

Mr. Riaz Khan

(Mr. Riaz Khan is a retired senior bureaucrat. On Aug. 19, he happened to share the same flight with former President Musharraf’s mother and elder brother from Islamabad to Karachi.)

“Dear Friends of Pakistan & of President Musharraf, I want to share my personal experience of Wednesday while coming on 3.00 PM PIA flight from ISL to Karachi. I was travelling in Economy Plus & had a window seat. A elderly lady in the same row on Aile seat sat who was assisted by a dignified man, I immediately recognized that she was Musharraf’s mother & the man resembled like Musharraf although little thinner.

In the front row was our bull dog looking finance minister Shaukat Tareen seated. Once the plane took off, I offered my respect to the lady & told her that how much we love his son. The person sitting next to me was Musharraf’s elder brother, who is settled in Rome. Guys, he was such a humble and nice man that I cannot find words to explain him. We knew lot of mutual friends and talked during the flight. Besides, I mentioned to Musharraf mother about my father in law, while her husband was posted in Ankara & surprisingly she remembered the names of my sister in laws and mother in law. There was no protocol, no special treatment except wheel chair as offered to ordinary PIA passengers at KHI airport.

Our bull dog Finance Minister did not had the courtesy to say hello to the aged lady. Outside the airport was Ayala, president’s daughter to receive them. Can you imagine this happening to any of our other leaders, who had ruled the country for 9 years. One of my friend, who knows Musharraf very well visited him in his modest two bed room flat in London and was invited for dinner at his place. I was told that he was laying the table for dinner himself & was extremely happy, content and satisfied with life. There were no regrets or ill feelings against anybody & his only concern was Pakistan. Aren’t we an unfortunate nation to lose a remarkable person like him & replace him with the likes of AAZ, NS & SS?”

. . .
It will not matter how much money is spent by the so called political parties in Pakistan, they will not be able to hide the fact that Pervaiz Musharraf remains genuinely beloved.

Was that why people were jubilant when he left power.

This is pathetic why do you fixate that the people of Pakistan loved him? If so why didn't he come to power through electoral process, its meaningless to say they loved him. He is symbol of oppression and had no street power that how pathetic his popularity was, most of his 8 years he hid from all of Pakistan and his last 2 years he confronted Pakistan the second time. He is not a leader, but a con artist.

. .
Musharraf is not so humble or innocent. On time the most powerful commando President of Pakistan has ran away to a Western country and is afraid to face justice let alone the line of fire. As if he has given up the citizenship of his beloved country Pakistan. He does not live modestly either, he lives in one of the plushest neighborhoods of UK, he has a villa in Turkey and has built a 6 million dollar house in long Island here in US. Where did he get his money for these as well how does is support his current lavish lifestyle? Just being patriotic is not enough there were a lot of irregularities during his iron fist rule. Hundreds if not thousands have disappeared, there were questionable political killings, selective NAB prosecutions, unlawful tampering of constitution to keep him in power, fradulent election was staged, illegal judicial tampering by firing judges and appointing favorable justices. What is afraid of to answer these charges? He is innocent till proven guilty, he should stand trial if he is right then the court will vindicate him.

Though “Sir Mushraff” is not saint but he is “to be”. “Sir Mushraff” has lived for country and constitution of country. He has put his life in danger 1965, 1971 and 1999. His is a born commando and would live for country and die for country. Till to day “he” is not one the best leader but “the best” president Pakistan ever had and probably will ever have
:rofl::rofl:

He is not a poor person, some “idiots” in Pakistan think that he has made money from kickbacks, selling men and women to US etc, etc but actually you should know he is an author of a best seller and since you are living in US you should know such persons are always millionaires.

He is travelling from city to city and country to country and delivering lectures on current political issues and enlighten moderation. You should know such “scholars” always make big bucks.

He is also a good singer and tabalchi and these are valuable skills in waste . One can easily make good money with these artistic skills there right?

You should also know that he is a farmer of organic potatoes and tomatoes and every body knows organic stuff is very expensive.
:agree::agree:

Just being patriotic is not enough there were a lot of irregularities during his iron fist rule. His rule has not even a single irregularity. Some idiots left their homes after some domestic disputes and their families accused “Sir Mushraff” just because they thought being a president of welfare state, it was his responsibility to find them. No one was kidnapped by agencies it was a crude propaganda. What NAB did? Nothing wrong, some people voluntarily appeared in NAB offices and told authorities about their bad deeds. His rule was “extra constitutional” and elections were held freely and fairly. Now if you think about confession of Gen Ehtesham Zamir, it is confirmed news when he said that he was drunk and some one also did black magic to speak against “Sir Mushraff”. So my dear please correct yourself and let you effected with false propaganda.

:hitwall::hitwall:

He is innocent till proven guilty, he should stand trial if he is right then the court will vindicate him.

Trial, trial of “Sir Mushraff” are you crazy, his trial means trial of Gen Ashfaq Parvez Kayani and many other generals. Its is not possible in next 100 years under current circumstances. Before even thinking of this you should know Gen Mirza Aslam Baig and Gen Asad Durrani. Wake up dear wake up
:lol::lol:

Once again I say Musharraf is a cowardand afraid to enter Pakistan. Recent poll showed 71% Pakistanis living in Pakistan want Musharraf tried for his crimes. They can not be wrong. His Presidential election was definitely a fraud as he got 97% of votes. Also during his regime billions of dollars in aid was diverted and never accounted for. Best selling author? I don't know about that but his wealth was accumulated even before that. It is estimated by a well known Pakistani military analyst(Ayesha Siddiqi) that each Pakistani 4 star general is worth $25million dollars and 2 star generals are worth$5 million, substantially more than US generals. One thing Murshad is right about he will never be tried as military will never allow that. In Pakistan still military calls the shots.

My Dear how you say “Sir Mushraff” is a chicken, you did not see how bravely he behaved on 12th May 2007 in Islamabad. Forget polls, these polls are conspiracies of Jews and Indians. Dear don’t rely on these polls please, please for God sake please:hitwall:

Does getting 97% votes make his election fraud. This is just one gauge of his popularity. So many leaders get 97% - 98% votes. Just look golden examples of Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak and Zimbabwean president Robert Gabriel Mugabe. You should feel proud we do have one person like these in our country.:victory: How come you missed his book “In the line of fire”, it has become a classic now. I am giving you advise my dear, everyday before going to bed read at least 2 – 3 pages. This will prevent you having some nightmare:)

It is estimated by a well known Pakistani military analyst(Ayesha Siddiqi) that each Pakistani 4 star general is worth $25million dollars and 2 star generals are worth$5 million, substantially more than US generals.

Never ever say this again. Our generals are warriors. This generals worth much more than that. These can never be compared with US dear. Just take examples from field marshel Gen Eyub Khan, he was “Salah ud Din sani” by nation. Gen Yahya Khan was tagged as “Khalid bin Waleed sani” Gen Zia-i-Haq was “Mujahid-i-islam” which turned into “Shaheed-i-Islam” and our beloved Gen Mush is the greatest leader Pakistan ever had or will have in future, even well above Quaid-i-Azam.:lol:

One thing Murshad is right about he will never be tried as military will never allow that. In Pakistan still military calls the shots.

That’s good, it means you have stated to grow up. I learned this reality after a very very long time. I don’t how old are you but I can tell you about myself, when I was young I used say our ruling elite will be dragged one day into streets and they will be treated like Zars of Russia at the time of revolution. But my dear “Zindagi Junon hay pati putloon hay” it means Life is like a Torn Trouser. :agree:

.
^^I cannot makeup my mind whether Murshad really believes in what he said or he is being sarcastic....

Just wanted to tell you one thing my friend.
Ayesha Siddiqi is a real substandard researcher and her book on Pakistan Army was full of concocted stories and half baked theories.

You would do better to read the only definitive book on Pakistan Army which is Crossed swords by Shuja Nawaz. This book is extremely well researched and offers the best insight into Pakistan Army, its achievements and its failures.

Now coming to Musharraf,
I really want him to be trialed but with a precondition of trialing all those elitists and politicians who are guilty of same and a lot more.
NS was the spawn of the most definitive dictator in our history...he worshipped Zia, the same Zia who more than anyone ruptured our system and tore away our constitution...Zia derailed Pakistan in a totally new direction...
How can NS and others be let off for supporting Zia on one hand and now talking about the holy struggle against dictatorship?
Have these people apologized to the nation for their own support of Zia and their own rule which became absolutely dictatorial before Musharraf turned the tables?

BB and company have always sold Pakistan for their personal gains, Zardari has been the most notorious person in our history and yet has become president under the charge of all these peerless and stainless Politicians we have...
Our PM sheds crocodile's tears on the situation of the nation but just bought 3-4 additional houses in DHA Lahore....whenever PML-N comes to power in punjab there is a wheat and sugar shortage and they then carry out the drama of being strict on the hoarders, whereas they themselves are the ones who carry out this dastardly act.
When compared with these leaders we have had, i do not blame anyone for liking Musharraf.
It is the pathetic performance and absolutely unacceptable behavior and attitude of our politicians that they have driven our nation into such a corner where we feel it is better to have a dictator like Musharraf as our leader.

It is indeed not the forte of our politicians to refrain from imposing themselves on the ordinary citizens, they come in their caravans of imported vehicles and armed thugs and get VVVIP treatment in all public areas at the cost of causing great pain and inconvenience to the nation...they do this still despite knowing that the nation is at an edge....

As far as personal wealth and corruption is concerned, the generals of our army at least are in the tax net.
You know how much tax Nawaz Sharif paid in his second government?
It was less than what my mother paid when she was a school teacher!!!
Same is with Fazl ur Rehman who has multiple houses, land cruisers etc. and yet did not pay anything since everything was a gift...can you believe the aduacity of these liars and criminals?
It is absolutely a nightmare when we see how much wealth these politicians have accumulated and how little they contribute to the national exchequer...they are absolutely without any shame and honor to have so much wealth and still not paying taxes and giving anything back to the country which they have raped and plundered. How can we tolerate them when all the burden of their errors and corruption falls on salaried individuals like myself?

Regarding all the corruption you attribute to Musharraf, even if he did some hanky panky it was negligible and we did not even feel it in our personal lives.
The administration was much better and lots of work was done even in Baluchistan which no other government had ever done before. South Punjab was also given attention.

There were only 6-8 billion dollars out of which half were spend on the war effort.
With the rest we had constant electricity supply, correct billing of utilities, a booming economy, multinationals staring new ventures in Pakistan, no sword of IMF on our head, controlled prices on all commodities of life...and the list goes on and on...so i do not think Musharraf made a fortune like NS, Zardari, BB etc.

All this is based on my experience of living in Pakistan as a salaried professional in a multinational who is running his house and has firsthand knowledge of how things have gone much worse these days in every aspect of life...
From where i am sitting this was not at all possible without Musharraf being much better than the current lot of our politicians.

So my point is very simple, do not look at Musharraf alone, instead focus on those whom he competes against and then you will know why despite many of his mistakes many still like him better.

Still, we have to be patient and let democracy run its course and hope that we weed out these corrupt politicians and let the educated and honest people come on top in next 20 years or more...it will be a torture to bear but something we have to do in order to mature
