Asad Umar, Razaq Dawood, and Ishrat Hussain. Hussain the only economist and one who's past retirement age. Don't like it. MBA/Corporate guys are NOT suited to run economic affairs. Econ and Finance majors are. Not a strong start, unless the economic direction is going to be controlled from PTI's policy trust with competent guys like Taimur Jhagra, Shahbaz Gill and hopefully Nadeem Haque and Atif Mian as advisors.

Give complete independence to SBP/FBR and i'll be satisfied.

Asad Umar
We need someone with strong capitalist mindset while during current interviews, Omar's views are clearly tending towards socialism.
Razaq Dawood
Involvement in alleged mega corruption charges while he was commerce minister during Musharraf era.
Ishrat Hussain
He can be a good speaker but his performance as Governor of State Bank was poor.

Hands tied in the past. SBP never had independence. I believe his reformist views include its independence from political interference. If that's all that is done after 5 years i'll walk away satisfied.

Asad Umar and Dawood would be palatable if their respective organizations were competitive in the global market. They're not. They're the result of a rent-seeking economy and have been an integral part of the downfall of Pak's industry and trade. Thinking they have the answers or even the prescriptions is wishful thinking.

Bhai, Asad Umer also has support and consultation services of Dr. Ashfaqe Hassan Khan. The one who termed Dar as economic hitman which was later picked up by PTI.

Running down a moron like Dar is of no use to Pakistan's economic outlook. What's done is done. And it doesn't take a genius to realize Dar is an incompetent stooge.

Disappointing to see that Ishrat Hussain is heading, in addition to reform, AUSTERITY. Terrible. Someone tell IK austerity never has and never will work. Cutting wasteful spending is fine. But austerity should never be seen in any government portfolio or policy statement.

Not to spread negativity but, I've seen interviews of Asad Umar, I'm not impressed at all. I'm not an economist but I see he clearly have no solid plans wrt the economy.

For Economic Pakistan needs not 1 person but 10 Leaders , imported from outside (CEOs from Western countries of Pakistani Origin) or similar experience or Local people with experience in Finance

Today is day 1. The biggest burden on the economy is corruption, if the corruption goes down by 20%, energy sector is reformed by proper management and taxation is improved...things will start to look positive IA. rocket scientists are not needed here, people who can execute a plan and be able to make hard decisions are need of the hour.

neither is Asad Umar. Commerce ministry for him would've been fine. Need econ/finance guys as finance ministers. looks like IK is doubling down on the idiocy of austerity. Hope it's about cutting wasteful spending instead of actual austerity. Change the name of Ishrat Hussain's debrief to comptroller/efficiency assurance etc.
