Imran Khan shifted to Adiala jail

Looks like IK may be going for a grand give-and-take bargain. My inklings based on politics being the negotiations art of optimizing your objectives:
  • Given the current geo-strategic condition emanating from the Ukraine War (even India is being pulled by her ears), no way going against the West vis-a-vis Russia (Jinnah during WW2: a known enemy [Britain/USA] is better than an unknown friend [Germany/Japan])
  • Free hand in reforming the grave internal issues: judiciary, bureaucracy, taxes, social benefits etc.
  • Going max for trade, investment, industrialization, connectivity etc. via CPEC
  • Giving the Deep State its own space that translates into $200b worth of yearly "activities"
  • More political tolerance toward Sherifs, Zardaris etc,. who are nothing but the Deep State's peons
  • Etc.

people like these are most probably getting paid. pti supporters will criticize the wrongdoings of their govt, but never once has a nooni toon did that. i saw a noony-toon getting a media cell certificate myself, and even that certificate's design was stolen from the covid vaccince certification design. brain dead idiots.

We have sympathy with you and people who see Nawaz will salvage.
Lets competent and educated people to come forward and steady the ship of the country. Zardari, Nawaz sharif , fazlu and all other gullu butts days are long gone so does the days or nights of the pathetic generals who turned out to be nothing more then the traitor snakes and can be bought with the green cards.
Other countries people talk about jobs, economy, culture, soft power, children education and our people are still stuck on the slogan of the "Bhutto is still alive" and Nora the saviour who is incapable of even reading correctly.
The wall between our country prosperity and current situation is our generals until there heads won't roll we are all on the slippery slope and are going to go down. Ask a question to yourself where are all of our previous chief of army staff are residing certainly they are not in the Pakistan then ask yourself where these generals loyalties lies, definitely not with the Pakistan.

Expecting sanity from current army establishment is not going to work. As for Imran riaz release we would have thought that sanity is being prevailed if they'd have released him as the person we knew him. They have experimented on him, tortured him, gave him substances or what that he is even unable to construct sentences. His strength was being sharp, being excellent speaker. His memory is effected. What kind of monster Army do it with its own people. Hope that is not the permanent brain damage.

Moving IK to another jail is certainly not a right direction. Its that nation has gone so much on back foot that we even think such things good. Putting IK in jail was unimaginable a year ago. But today he is there on bogus cases. Pakistani nation so much rely on hopes & prayers and that's the problem. Nation needs to relentlessly display their support. Organize at streets level, neighborhood levels, everyone put flags on their homes collectively. Only nation's rejection of GHQ attitude and nation's will can bring IK back. Otherwise its hard to believe that nation may see IK ever again. Nation needs to Stop relying on just prayers and hopes. Needs to practically do something about it.
Pakistanis are modern version of Ahl-e-Kufa, (نعوذباللہ, I am not comparing Imran khan with Hazrat Imam Hussain R.A, but comparing our attitude with the people of kufa).

Good post and I cannot disagree with everything. However, I will call attention to a few points.

First, in hindsight we can say that the establishment miscalculated and "all will be forgiven" was looked upon too generously.

Second, while the miscalculation is possible, there are plenty of things behind the scenes that we are not aware of that may have been opened up as a result of change in government.

The first is that an IMF deal was reached averting a major balance of payment crises (nobody was willing to bail Pakistan out, we know this factually) so American support was crucial for it. What PTI could have done in terms of recovering the economy in med to long term was still not going to avert this balance of payment crises (we are still not out of it but we also have not defaulted).

Second, while we may not see the tangibles in the form of new military hardware flying into the country, there is a lot of maintenance and logistical support for which we are dependent on the US/West. The recent chatter about Pakistan signing CISMOA and participation in Ex. Brightstar reveals that the interaction is increasing whereas in all of PTI's term there was deathly silence on all fronts. Additionally, there could be intelligence sharing against ISIS/TTP that we are not aware of. On the issue of mil-mil relations picking up, for the general public this may not be a big issue but they are also not aware that Pakistan's defense needs cannot be met by China solely. This is a very important element to understand. E.g. KSA, UAE, Turkey and most recently even Armenia have had to take steps to align/re-align with powers that help with their security/defense posture. Pakistan is certainly no exception (one might argue our case is even more acute given the growing disparity each day vis-a-vis India).

So, this is not simply a case of "To make others happy, destroy own people/country". You have to keep in mind that our establishment is pretty clear about what it deems important to the country's security interests (as perceived by itself) and for the most part it sticks to its stance regardless of the blowback. This was the case with our nuclear program, support for Mujahideen, support for Taliban prior to 2001, and our policies throughout the US-Afghan war. So the establishment doesn't necessarily bend over for others all the time. They try to safeguard Pakistan's security interests where it is possible and sometimes there are no good choices.

Having stated the above, I do agree that whatever the situation, it is not the responsibility of the security establishment to set policies. However, I am also mindful that this is Pakistan where nothing happens as it should.
The establishment messed up. Admit it. Thats the first step to making things right.
A few exercises and CISMOA are insignificant next to the costs incurred,

Pakistan Army's and Establishments "Special Operation" has done spectacularly wrong just as it has done for Putin ...
