I'm sure China has encouraged it's two allies in South Asia to work towards bettering ties. Can't be a coincidence that China has given Bangladesh a preferential trade agreement and now we see this.

Much needed diplomacy and countering the long cooked propaganda by the usual manipulator in the region.
Pakistan should build relations and also will have to stay in touch with all the regional players. In past, unfortunately such foreign policy was ignored which presumably was deliberate and there are reasons as why the leadership kept ignoring such policy so only their friends could have been pleased. That was the time was personal business was priority and then it was all done to remain in power with support of bigger players.
Someone will be hurt and very badly.

There is a growing sense in Pakistan that the younger generation is especially keen to forge meaningful ties with Bangladesh.
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan is quietly making efforts to mend its ties with Bangladesh after certain developments in the region have provided a window of opportunity to both countries to seek rapprochement.
Diplomatic sources familiar with the development believe that the current regional environment has compelled Islamabad and Dhaka to seek reengagement.
Relations between the two countries have remained tense for the last many years. The two countries have yet to overcome the bitter memories of 1971 events that led to the creation of Bangladesh.
What led to the current low in their ties was the decision taken a few years ago by the incumbent government of Shaikh Hasina Wajid to try and execute several leaders of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami on charges of committing war crimes in 1971.
Pakistan was against such what it called politically motivated trials. It also accused Dhaka of violating the 1974 trilateral agreement between Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Under the agreement, all countries including Bangladesh had agreed not to pursue cases against people involved in the 1971 events.
Relationship between the two countries worsened to the extent that Pakistan's National Assembly in 2016 passed a unanimous resolution condemning the execution of JI leaders.
Not just that the Bangladesh government refused to approve the appointment of Pakistani High Commissioner for 20 months. Islamabad eventually had to make the fresh proposal for the appointment of Imran Ahmed Siddiqui as envoy to Dhaka. His name was finally approved by Dhaka in November last year. Siddiqui joined the Pakistani mission in Dhaka in January, raising hopes of a thaw in their ties.
Earlier this month, Pakistani envoy held a rare meeting with Bangladeshi Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen. Foreign Office sources were cautious about calling the meeting as "breakthrough" or whether this would lead to breaking the ice.
One of the reasons that foreign office sources were playing down the outreach was to avoid creating unnecessary hype and allowing "spoilers" to undermine such efforts.
Indian media reports expressed alarm over the meeting between Pakistani envoy and Bangladeshi foreign minister, claiming Islamabad was trying to take advantage of India's preoccupation with other issues.
New Delhi and Dhaka have longstanding ties and those relations further deepened when Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi came to power in May 2014. India has exercised great influence over Bangladesh and took full advantage of PM Shaikh Hasina Wajid's mistrust with Pakistan.
But India and Bangladesh ties suffered a major blow when Modi government last year passed a controversial Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). The law had triggered massive protests in Bangladesh and in March, Modi had to cancel his visit because of growing anti-India sentiments.
In the middle of this, China also made inroads in Bangladesh by offering economic and other partnership. Dhaka is already part of Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). Recently, Beijing allowed Bangladesh to export goods to China with zero tariffs. Similarly, China has been assisting Bangladesh dealing with Covid-19 pandemic.
As a result of this cooperation, Bangladesh surprisingly kept quiet over the recent military standoff between India and China. Dhaka even did not offer condolences to India over the killing of its 20 soldiers including a Colonel during a bloody fight with China in the high altitude Ladakh region.
Observers believe that the changing dynamics offered a good opportunity for Pakistan and Bangladesh to revisit their troubled ties.
A senior foreign office official said Pakistan wants to reset ties with Bangladesh. The official, however, said this reset was not aimed at any other country.
"Pakistan and Bangladesh share common bonds of history, culture and religion," the official said adding that, "there is a strong desire on both sides to strengthen bilateral relations."
There is a growing sense in Pakistan that the younger generation is especially keen to forge meaningful ties.
Also, Pakistan is appreciative of Bangladesh's "remarkable economic achievements," said the official.
At the same time, there is an acknowledgement that events of 1971 are the most painful chapter of the two countries' common history.
"Closer people to people contacts between two peoples will promote reconciliation and mutual understanding. This will heal the wounds of the past," Pakistani official stressed.

Unpopular Opinion :
Pakistan needs to understand these are the internal affairs of Bangladesh and Islamabad cannot stop the execution of this individual.
I urge the Pakistani government to not speak up on this matter, do not undo all the progress that is being made, do not take us all back to square one by making a issue out of this.
Bangladesh - Pakistan relations get soured everytime Islamabad comments on our internal affairs, our Judiciary is responsible for taking care of war criminals, this has nothing to do with Pakistan, the faster these people are sent to meet their maker, the faster we Bangladeshis can move on.
If anything Pakistan should help us move on by engaging with us as they have been in recent times, turn a blind eye to the war crimes tribunal, it is an internal matter of the sovereign people's Republic of Bangladesh.
The ghosts of 1971 will only be put to rest when these individuals are put to rest, this is an internal matter of Bangladesh. Let's not forget these are Bangladeshi citizen, period.
Forget Jamaat and the old ties, let the dead men die.
This is the time to let go of old allies and forge new previously unthinkable alliances.
If Hasina can shun Delhi to Modi's despair, can Islamabad not bring themselves to let go of Jamaat.
Why would you need Jamaat, when Hasina; who is alleged to be the most virulent "Hater" of Pakistan, is herself seeking better relations.
These are my own observations, What Dhaka and Islamabad do is not in my hands.
I seek nothing other than for our two nations to cooperate, only in trade avenues, if not in other ways.
Trust builds over time, this is a good first step, onwards from here, we should go, not backwards.

NEW DELHI: Pakistan PM's efforts to strike a chord with his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina over Kashmir and SAARC was snubbed with Dhaka’s statement on telephone conversation totally ignoring both the issues.
Pakistan PM Imran Khan telephoned Hasina on Wednesday afternoon but did not receive any positive response in the backdrop of ruling Awami League’s difficult ties with Pakistan for decades. Awami League had been at the forefront of fight against Pak Army and ISI in 1971 and suffered maximum in the genocide.
Pakistan’s role in assassination of Hasina's father and Bangladesh’s first leader has been widely acknowledged. ISI-backed terror groups have been active in Bangladesh under BNP-Jamaat rule. But the Hasina government cracked down after it returned to power in 2008. Pak spy agency’s efforts to support BNP at last elections in 2018 was also foiled.
The statements by PakIstan and Bangladesh governments following the conversation were contrasting.
The foreign ministry of Pakistan issued a statement as did the office of the Bangladesh Prime Minister’s Office.
While Pakistan‘s statement said that Imran Khan spoke of the “grave situation” in what he called “Indian occupied Jammu and Kashmir,” and the need for an early resolution of the problem, the Bangladesh government statement is totally silent on Jammu and Kashmir
While Pakistan has issued a nine paragraph statement, the Bangladesh government statement consists of two paragraphs.
Pakistan said Khan has invited Hasina to visit Pakistan but there is no reference to her acceptance. The Bangladeshi statement does not have any reference to it.
