Chairman PTI Imran Khan Speech PTI Jalsa Dera Ghazi Khan (15.01.17)
#DGKhanKaptaanKa #PanamaPapers #PanamaLeaks
“The people of Dera Ghazi Khan; just because I have not visited does not mean that I do not know what is happening here. I know that the people of South Punjab are sick of the Takht-e-Lahore; even the people of Lahore are sick of the Talha-e-Lahore. The blessing that we have gotten to get rid of this corrupt mafia in the form of Panama Leaks is a defining moment for us. Do you want to be free of this Sharif Mafia? Do u want a Naya Pakistan?
What is Naya Pakistan? Let me tell you; especially my youth here today. Naya Pakistan is going back to the real ideology of Pakistan; why Pakistan was made. Why did we struggle for partition? Because we were to become a model Islamic Welfare State. We were to become that region in the subcontinent that would become a model for justice and tolerance. The ideals of Islamic values of justice and equality that would have made us a model nation. A nation where every human being got his right; every human being. Where every human being is equal in front of the law; whether it is a common man of DG Khan and whether it is a powerful landlord of DG Khan. A man who lives in a shack, a man who drives a rickshaw, a man who pushes a cart... everyone has equal rights. And a society where those who are blessed with more take care of those who are needy. Where the powerful help those who need education, health, opportunities. In the west a poor man can get the best treatment and free treatment, the best education, and the best justice in their courts. These are called welfare states where everyone is given equal opportunity. Across the west, there is the system of welfare states in Europe.
Unfortunately, there is no justice here; one law for the powerful and one for the poor Man. A place where the child of the poor is held back because he does not get the opportunity to the right kind of education whereas in the west, a common man’s son can get the same opportunities and become the country's prime minister. We need a system where the poor man can go to the hospital and get free medication. Saif Khosa here told us to open an SKMCH here; once we are done with the one with Karachi we will see what we can do for this area. It is not easy making a cancer hospital; u need doctors, you need specialised machinery. Go to SKMCH and you will see the poor man will get free treatment, free medication, free food. The minute a poor man walks into that hospital for treatment he does not have to pay for anything. InshAllah this is what we will do with hospitals across Pakistan.
I am not talking about things that cannot be done; this happens across the western world. The state supports those who cannot stand on their feet till they are able to support themselves. I am amazed that you are here despite the cold and the rain.
I want to talk about Panama papers now; the papers that revealed the global corrupt elite in which Nawaz Sharif had also been implicated. What is the case here? Nawaz Sharif says his sons have companies worth billions, and that his father made money before him but he has no idea how all this wealth was accumulated. What do we say? That Nawaz Sharif bought the flats in 1990s, put them in his daughter’s name, and then positioned his sons in London and sent the money of Pakistan out to them via money laundering and put it all in his kids’ names. Nawaz Sharif himself said that when someone steals money they do not keep it in their own name. And whose money was stolen? Your money was stolen. Recently hundreds of thousands of people came out on South Korea and Iceland to protect their own money against corrupt leaders.
Till we do not take a stand against corruption poverty will never end, our institutions will never get fixed, we will never get investment. Corruption is a battle for all of us and if we win this, Pakistan will change. Nawaz Sharif and his lawyers say the flats were purchased in 2006, but a BBC documentary with documents says that these flats were purchased in 1993 and no ownership has changed since then. The same was revealed in an FIA report and a 1998 documentary by the BBC on the same issue and in the early 2000's Ishaq Dar's affidavit also revealed the same.
Does the Pakistani nation think that Nawaz Sharif has stolen their money? Who here thinks Nawaz Sharif will be punished for this?
We pray that the justice system of this county views the powerful and the common man with the same lens. If Nawaz Sharif cannot prove that the flats in the 1990s were not his, he will be disqualified. And if it is proven that Maryam Nawaz is the owner of the Mayfair flats, again Nawaz Sharif will be disqualified. This will mean that the Qatari letter was fake; because Maryam Nawaz has no funds of her own so it all means that it goes back to Nawaz Sharif.
Nations whose ideology dies die as nations. Right now we are heading towards chaos; a small band of people are feeding off the country destroying its institutions and fuelling nepotism. But we have a choice now to take it towards our true ideology which can make us a great Nation. We need to pray to be guided on the path of those who have been blessed; of those who fought for equality and justice. A system of injustice can never survive and a nation that is not just can never survive. So we have two roads ahead of us right now. Our fight against corruption is one for equality and justice; the day we are successful inshAllah we will make use of all the assets we have been bestowed with; a hard working public, talented youth, charitable people who amongst those who give the most charity globally, 12 seasons, coal, gas, geography... we have it all. The day this country has a government that will collect tax because people will have faith in them, we will spend on hospitals, education, infrastructure to facilitate the common people.
12 years ago I was going to Dubai on a flight and there was a man sitting next to me crying. I asked him why he was crying, I thought maybe he had a fear of flying. But he told me no I am missing my children; I have 9 children and I am going back to work in Dubai and I will now come back after 2 years. That really affected me; what have we done to our country that we can give employment to our own people that this man has to leave his children and go away for two years in order to feed them. If I don't see my children for two months, I miss them. And here this is what we have done to the people of our country; because of corruption an ordinary man cannot feed his family and has to go to foreign countries where they are made to labour for 18 hours straight. Children don't see their fathers, wives don't see their husbands; this is a system of injustice and this is what you have to fight against. If we do not fight, these powerful Mafias will make us bow our heads and we will have to bear this injustice. This struggle is for our survival; Imran khan can spend his life comfortable. But our fight is for that Pakistan where we put these powerful not in the parliament but in jail.
I spent 8 years in the DG Khan jail; I only saw poor people there, no powerful people there. The boy who used to come clean our rooms in jail told me he stole 30,000 rupees where he worked because his father was sick and he could not feed his family. He was sentenced for 3 months but was in jail for 6 months and the system had forgotten him. His crime was wrong, but he served his time and he had the potential to be the only breadwinner of the house. On the other hand, this corrupt mafia is stealing billions. What is revealed in panama is still nothing; they have about 500 billion lying outside the country. And then his lawyers say that he is exempt from inquiry till proper proofs not given. So if that's the law that applies to the PM, then what about people like that poor boy? One Nawaz Sharif’s theft equals the amount stolen by all the petty criminals of the country. Those we should be helping; we don't give them jobs, we don't give them lawyers, we don't give treatment to their sick parents.
The whole world knows Nawaz Sharif is a thief; should we now wait for the day that his lawyer says that he is the PM so he can steal all he wants. Do they want to say that if you want to loot and steal then do it big? If you steal small you end up in DG Khan jail.
I see a bright future for Pakistan; so I don't want you to be demotivated.
I also want to talk about cricket; the amount of talent Pakistan has I have seen nowhere in the world. If we fix the system, no one will be able to beat Pakistan.
I want to tell Saif Khosa; that when PTI comes into power the law will be equal for you and for the common rickshaw driver and anyone on the street. Bringing the powerful under the law will be my responsibility. And bringing justice to the poor will be our responsibility too. InshAllah we will make Pakistan into that country where people will come searching for jobs!” – Imran Khan
