Mate, there can be no talks with terrorists..... you want to talk to them? Of course you can, however, only after they have been defeated militarily. The thing here is, insurgency first needs to be squashed, then you can talk to them and offer them "amnesty" to weed out the last remaining pockets. Only way that has worked through out the world. How can we be any different?

Have you ever seen a "negotiated" settlement with terrorists before - any where else in this world?

Dude, you know that I'm a PTI supporter, right? Just take it from me, this is a huge miscalculation.

IK, is a Niazi, he has no say, I mean whatsoever in most of the Tribal areas. He is respected, but that's about it. The problem here is, when you negotiate, you negotiate from position of power. He unfortunately lacks that at the moment.

I know how IK thinks, he makes these "rag tag" band of "advisors", most of which unfortunately have no idea of ground realties, and are not even related to those areas.

Do you remember the fiasco where he was supposed to be going "Waziristan" couple months back in a huge convoy, and at the last moment the trip go cancelled. Do you know the reasons behind it? Or just an "unofficial" story?

If you are going to be a PTI'an, and want this party to thrive, you need to speak your mind, not party line. At the moment there are more yes men in PTI, which will eventually get it more and more delegitimized in front of masses, sometimes I think that these band of "advisors" are working for other political parties!

how exactly do you think State of Pakistan is not at position of power in negotiating with taliban to restore peace through truce? dont just mimic thoughts spread on media, kabhi apnay damag say bhi kuch soch liya karo...

PTI party policy is right to negotiate with taliban, sorting before action (if necessary) is must.. this is what army do by creating lashkars.

TTP is a band of thugs, nothing more. They are not united at anything, all of them want something different. If you put them all in a room, they will shoot each other dead.

The stage right now is 'talking about conditions necessary to talk about talks'. GOP has not surrendered anything just yet. This is COIN strategy being played out.

The final solution to TTP would have to be force, but we need to narrow the selection down to people who must be eliminated to achieve peace. Everything that GOP (MNS, IK, etc...) is doing right now is towards that end. IK knows that TTP is not an integrated and homogeneous entity. His offer and statements must be seen in this light. I suppose he wishes to be seen as a soft-liner, it is his compulsion arising out of his position at this point; and rightly so.

On the other hand TTP are not total fools either, they do not take him seriously as evident from their statements of late. However that may be, at this point it is a war and undercutting opponent's support base is very important. This is what both GOP and TTP are trying to do. At this point, TTP is on the defensive and the fractures are clearly visible.
