Imran Khan declared ‘Man of the Year’ by Jordanian institute

AUGUST 23, 2020
imran khan.jpg

Jordan’s Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre named Prime Minister Imran Khan as its “Man of the Year” in its recent list of the most persuasive Muslims in the world.

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran has also become the sixth most popular world leader on Twitter, boasting 10.5 million followers on the social media platform.

The Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre (RISSC) is an autonomous research entity with the Royal Aal Al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan.

Imran Khan became Prime Minister of Pakistan in 2018 after 22 years devoted to building an opposition political party committed to reform; confronting Pakistan’s civilian political establishment over the issue of embedded corruption and mismanagement.

This and his other accomplishments are detailed in the biography that accompanies his ranking (Number 16) in this, the latest edition of The Muslim 500.

Woman of the year Rashida Tlaib, American Congresswoman (Democrat, Michigan) is this year’s Muslim 500 Woman of the Year. She is the first Palestinian-American woman and joint first Muslim woman (along with Ilhan Omar (Democrat, Minnesota) to be elected to the American Congress as member of the House of Representatives.

Talking about the prime minister’s later campaign for Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital, he wrote, “I also was touched when Khan launched a successful fund raising campaign to establish a hospital devoted to both the care of victims of cancer as well as research.”

A Muslim leader who has led his country against nine years of NATO-created international terrorist action... He certainly deserves a place.

@jamahir

I checked the full report (https://www.themuslim500.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/10/TheMuslim500-2020-low.pdf) and Bashar al-Assad is featured in the list of the remaining 450 Muslims of the Muslim 500. These 450 Muslims are not ranked as the Top 50 has been.

This is the description given for Bashar al-Assad (page 129):

Al-Assad, HE President Bashar
Al-Assad is the president of the Syrian Arab Republic. Since 2011, the civil war between the regime and an assortment of groups (mainly gathered under the umbrella of the Free Syrian Army) has resulted in approximately 400,000 people being killed, six million displaced internally, and about five million having fled the country in a humanitarian crisis which is also having a destabilizing influence on neighbouring countries.

As you can read it is not positive.

Other references to Assad in the report are also not positive.

In the description of #24 of the top 50 Crown Prince Muhammad bin Salman bin Abdul-Aziz Al-Saud:
Saudi Arabia is also supporting the monarchy in Bahrain, and arming the anti-Assad forces in Syria (page 89).

In the description of #45 of the top 50 Sheikh Muqtada Sadr:
He has worked for Shia-Sunni unity, and in 2017 called for Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad to step down and met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (page 101).

The Jordanian institute Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Centre is obviously not pro-Assad.

Kudos sir, for making the effort of finding those references.

So as we can see, the ranking is "safe" as I said.

@Jyotish, this reference is funny :
In the description of #45 of the top 50 Sheikh Muqtada Sadr:
He has worked for Shia-Sunni unity, and in 2017 called for Syrian president Bashar Al-Assad to step down and met with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammad bin Salman (page 101).
Assad is the one actually working to keep peace between the various communities in Syria. His government and military has Muslims ( of all sects ) and Christians.

That's exactly what these well funded organisations with glitzy gala receptions tend to do - waste everyone's time with horsecrap clickbait standard "lists" instead of actually resolving problems faced by Muslim people today.

It's an exercise in distraction for the masses. Hopefully Khan won't even acknowledge such rubbish.

I think I selected all Indian Muslims from the Muslim 500.
There were also Muslims of Indian descent / birth which I did not post here, such as the #1 Justice Sheikh Muhammad Taqi Usmani.
He is a Pakistani now, but was born in India.
So, Indian Muslims are well represented.
Therefore, no hypocrisy.
