Improving Bangladesh's Defense In the 21st Century

Bangladesh a brother and neighbor in the East lives in peril and faces a great threat from the Hindu empire. The Hindu Empire has undertaken every step and measure to suppress Bangladesh and it's people from emerging as the respectable power they should be. Bangladeshis today live in poor conditions, mistakes and blame are to go around, but no one can deny the severity of damage caused by the enemy on this brother and neighbor in the East.

Therefore, it is essential that we, Pakistan, must give a lending hand to the people of Bangladesh. It is essential that Bangladesh improves it's Defense in the 21st century to rise to the security challenges the 21st century brings, especially for this region.

So I invite Pakistani, Chinese and Bangladeshi members to discuss how we can strengthen Bangladesh's defense.

P.S Indian members are encouraged to not post in this thread at all, as all you (some of you) ever accomplish is flaming, heating, and derailing. You will be reported.

Let me start...

First let's start with Bangladesh's air force, I think Bangladesh should purchase the JF-17. I understand Bangladesh has put in an order for 20 JF-17's, they ought to purchase more. Perhaps they can cannibalize their old air crafts, raise money, sell parts, and modernize their aerial fleet with JF-17's as their main multi-role fighter.

Pakistan can also initiate better ties with China and Bangladesh, and all three countries can work together to find cost-effective methods and approaches to modernize Bangladesh's air force.

I will post more later.

We cannot sell JF-17 to Bangladesh.Certainly not the our version.Perhaps through China we can sell it.Ours should be kept secret because India will have full access to BD JF-17.

I think it is possible to sell them a variation of the JF-17, of course we should not sell our personal Pakistani version of the JF-17. But we should have at least a export version, besides from what I understand Bangladesh has made an order for at least 20 JF-17's. Trust me I doubt Pakistani HIT or defense industries would or even be allowed to export any state secrets or valuable technology abroad.

However, this doesn't mean we can't improve Bangladesh's defense considerably.

So let's discuss methods and means of modernizing Bangladesh's air force.

Also please don't post short one/two line posts, make a constructive post especially in a serious thread as this. Nonetheless, I thank you for your input.

No, they have not placed any order so far. However its good fighter for them.Obviously some of them argue that its too low tech and that they are buying SU-30 etc.IMHO JF-17 will be far better for them any other heavy class fighter. With the current government in power in BD I highly doubt there will be any order for JF-17 from their site however if they buy JF-17.It will be very good for BD.They will have unlimited spares supply from China and Pakistan. No worries about sanctions.

We are building small attack boat and upgrading our old tank to Al-Zarar with Pakistan help. They should be complete in short time. Bd were going at right direction and perhaps we would have build JF17 with joint venture until Indian stooge got elected to power with Indian help.

It will take time Bangladesh to get out from Indian hegemonic design because of our unfortunate geographical location. ISI need to patronize Islamic force heavily to regain power next time so that we can build air power together. :smokin:

Good to know that your type 59s are being upgraded and hopefully more will come BDs way in the future

Are you sure about the news about BD ordering JF-17?I don't think so it is true.

Now that AL govt. is in power we don't expect any major deal with Pakistan on defence purchase.Instead Russia seems more obvious choice.

Instead if Jf-17,I think BAF is more interested in J-10.There are unconfirmed reports that BAF officials visited China for this reason.

Jf-17 would be a good choice because it has a low price tag,and as far as I know it is not as expensive to maintain as the Mig-29s we have. But when you will be facing the deadly flankers,I wouldn't put my money on Jf-17.

300 tanks have been upraded. The Chinese T-96 MBT will be put in order after the remaining 300 tanks are upgraded. Proabably by 2011.

Jf-17 or FC-20 would be a good choice because it has a low price tag,and as far as I know it is not as expensive to maintain as the Mig-29s we have. But when you will be facing the deadly flankers,I wouldn't put my money on Jf-17.

Im not sure either. But in an interview with the Air Force monthly, the BAF Chief mentioned the name of JF-17 as one of the options.

We also need to improve our sea force. Now we only have two advanced frigate. One is BNS OSMAN and another is BNS KHALID-BIN-WALID. Govt. has taken plan to modernized our navy but its a lengthy process. We need naval aircraft which will reign the deep see and some more anti-ship missile apart from C-802A.:police:

The BAF Chief might mentioned it cuz he knows about aircraft but the fact is in this BAL period forget about JF-17 thunder. It would be nice to see JF-17 beside the F-7BGs and will definitely strengthen our sky.

But for Su-30 even our MiG-29SE are no match late alone JF-17 and F-7BG.

So we have to keep two thing in our mind-
1) It is obvious that we have to procure Su-27 or J-11 or Su-30 must.
2) We have to procure interceptor like like J-10 or JF-17 or F-7BG with BVR capabilities.:azn:

J-10 can not be termed as interceptor. It is an air superiority fighter.J-10A can be compared to F-16 C/D block30 or more.

Jf-17 can be good because it can replace the A-5C in our inventory. But they can not be our strike fighter. For that we should go for J-10,may be with slight modification.

Russia did offer us Su-27 before,so we can have a go for the new variant Su-27SKM.But If we are to go for Sukhois then why not going for Su-30?

I think F-8 IIM,which was released in 2006 is the one we should look for.The Chinese uses it in large numbers. It is definitely better than F-7BG.
But if we go for J-10,we don't really need an interceptor. Moreover we can not afford so many planes.May be a squadron of J-10 at best.

The project is supported by China National Aero-Technology Import & Export Corporation for the Chinese side. Each individual aircraft is expected to have a fly-away cost of around US$8-15 million.

Is this news correct?Does Jf-17 really cost that low?If this is true then I think it is perfect for BAF.

whatever we buy it has to be really good.Something solid.about costs let's just say home is expensive and maintaining it too is also expensive.

It's time we got some quality stuff. The Chinese have developed a lot, both India and Pak have advanced western fighter aircraft in their air forces and Myanmar God knows only what they have got.

we need fighters for air defence, attack and maritime roles too.
