Nope, for many fans. These are only used by elite. Middle class can manage with 1 fan, 1 led light. They don't need anything else. So any one using 300units and more is Elite now.

Rate increases after 100 unit,rate file for 100 is different,200 is different and so on.

Since few years they have changed the strategy they only use last 2 slabs.

If your units are above 700 then
Slabs will be 700+ = 17PKR + Tax
Below 699 x 10 PKR. This is 300+ Slab.

Plus fuel adjustment + GST + PTV + NJ + Dams + Etc what ever possible they can add.

Since last month they have new strategy they take reading after 5 weeks so your slab will increase once or twice in year during summer. You can't do anything about it.

Pakistan has a perverse system by design. Instead of catching the thieves and frauds, the costs are recovered from the paying customers who are honest. That is also why indirect taxation is the main source of revenue, where the poor are hit relatively harder.

These are conscious decisions made by the government, present and past.

Anyway, this is not IMF therapy. This is part of the government's plan to set its books in order according to standard financial practices. Even here, the rise should apply to all slabs, since the government must remain committed to removing energy subsidies that it simply cannot afford.

Perhaps you did not read this part: In one of the decisions on Wednesday the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet “approved the additional charge of Rs0.30 per unit” for all consumers. This was done BEFORE the IMF reviews how the government is taking all the steps that it promised to take in order to qualify for the bailout.
