IMF darkest and scariest demand on national security spendings

You may think it is not "out of the ordinary", but where is any evidence of such a demand being made relevant to the topic in this thread?

Dude... I already pointed this out.

There's 2 points here:

1. He's lying to earn some brownie points.
2. IMF is demanding cuts to the defense budget (which they can) and he's trying to show some false bravado.

Then I clarified again.

If your budget is $1000/month and you're spending $600 on Pokemon cards, borrowing another $500/month, while your children starve to death you don't think the State is going to demand better budgeting from you before handing your kids back?

And here is the IMF: https://www.imf.org/en/About/Factsheets/Sheets/2023/IMF-Conditionality

Here is more with definitions: https://www.imf.org/external/np/pdr/mona/glossary.aspx

You don’t think they would ask Pakistan to roll back it’s Nuke program in exchange for financial help?

You don’t need a smoking gun, just I don’t need to see gravity to know it’s there. You have a linear way of thinking.

It seems as though you always have agenda when discussing Pakistans national security issues.

The PM has every reason to lie, and the sensationalist claim of the thread title is totally false, unjustified, and unsupported. No clarifications needed, as far as I can tell.

It seems as though you are always full of excreta, just like your cohort here.

.
I doubt the IMF asked to reveal or reduce spending on nukes directly. Theyre not stupid, they know that's a red line. They probably asked for a generic over all reduction in spending including making cuts to defense related projects and departments.

And I wrote that as bullet point 1.

But I also claimed it's authenticity with 2.

You have a good day dude.

Y'all be good now too, y'hear.

There is NOTHING authentic about the title or the similar claims made in this thread.

Amid cash crunch, Dar vows ‘no compromise’ on country’s nuclear, missile programmes

Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Thursday asserted there would be “no compromise” on the country’s nuclear and missile programmes as he responded to questions raised by PPP Senator Raza Rabbani.
Speaking during the Senate’s session today, Dar said: “Let me assure you that […] nobody is going to compromise anything on the nuclear or the missile program of Pakistan — no way.”
Senator Rabbani had raised some questions on the reasons behind the delay in the agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which would offer a critical lifeline to tame a balance-of-payments crisis.
The PPP leader lamented that the Senate had “neither before nor today been taken into confidence on what are the conditionalities of the IMF”.
Terming the delay “absolutely out of the ordinary — extraordinary”, Senator Rabbani said: “The question arises […] if the delay is being made because of some sort of pressure to be exerted on Pakistan’s nuclear [programme].”
Responding to him, Dar assured of no compromise on Pakistan’s nuclear prowess and promised that the “moment the staff-level agreement and the EFFP (Extended Fund Facility programme) would be finalised […] it will be put up on the website of the finance ministry”.

He added: “Nobody has any right to tell Pakistan that what range of missiles it can have and what nuclear weapons it can have. We have to have our own deterrence.
“We represent the people of Pakistan […] and we have to guard our national interests”.
Responding to the questions raised on the delay, Dar said the delay was “not on the part of the government”. Indirectly blaming the PTI’s government that signed the agreement in 2019, he said that “it seems as if the arrangements of 2019 with the IMF has been a different and [a] new program”.
He added: “It looks like that each time, the review is a new program which is very uncustomary with the IMF.
“It has been an extensive engagement — unusual, too lengthy, too long, too demanding — but we have completed everything.”
Asserting that the program “should have been over by 2022”, the PML-N leader said that the law amendments were passed by “this very parliament, after which the monetary policy has become too independent, in my opinion”.
Revealing one of the reasons behind the delay in the IMF agreement, Dar said: “At the time of previous reviews, certain friendly countries have made commitments to bilaterally support Pakistan.
“But [the] IMF is now asking that they should actually complete and materialise those commitments. That’s the only delay,” the finance minister told the Senate.
On March 9, Dar had blamed the delay on the previous government, whose “failure to meet commitments” created a trust deficit that had continued to bite.

However, he had once again assured the nation that the country was “very close” to signing the agreement, which would release $1.1 billion that is part of a $6.5bn bailout package the IMF approved in 2019.

Nuclear programme ‘jealously’ guarded by state: PM Shehbaz

Separately, Prime Minister Shehbaz said that Pakistan’s nuclear programme was being “jealously guarded by the state”.
A statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office later today noted that press releases, queries and various assertions regarding Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programme were being circulated on social and print media.
It said that even a “traditional routine visit” of International Atomic Energy Agency Director General Rafael Mariano Grossi was portrayed in a “negative spotlight”.
“It is emphasised that Pakistan’s nuclear and missile programme is a national asset, which is jealously guarded by the state. The complete programme is totally secure, foolproof and under no stress or pressure whatsoever,” the PMO statement said.
“It continues to fully serve the purpose for which this capability was developed,” it added.
this simply mean DAr is preparing the grounds to announce the failure of negotiations with IMF

Red line lol!

.
Our nuclear arsenal is already compromised. Harmkhor General will bend over to pick up a penny, it’s not unthinkable they already sold it or gave its location to US.

. . .
Wisdom would suggest why would the establishment sell its most prized asset it blackmails the world/IMF with. Statements like ‘please give us money as we are a nuclear nation’. Get the hint? :o::cheesy:

.
How do you expect them to not compromise Pakistan nukes when most of them live and have foreign citizenships. Pakistan is expendable. I wouldn’t be surprised if they deliberately crashed the economy to make it easier to give up nukes in return for financial support. I don’t think honor-less men have any qualms about anything. For them, living rich in foreign lands is more attractive than a strong Pakistan. The nukes should be kept at all cost, or mark my words, Pakistan will be destroyed within 5 years.
who will destroy it? Please eloborate. Iran, Afghanistan or India?

. .
He can cry all he wishes, but it still does not make the claim in the title correct. The IMF has made no such demand.

You might remember my posting last month that the demands of the IMF regarding the Pak military will slowly start coming out, as I have a close friend working on the IMF team in this Pakistan deal. I wish PDM and PTI laid it out for the people to see rather than this piecemeal nonsense.

Like a few others on this forum, I also mentioned that expecting China to rescue Pakistan isn't on the table from the Chinese perspective.

People fail to understand that there is a political cost to things regardless of whether it's IMF or WB. So member states will exert their soft power to get the desired result. Right now, Pakistan is on all fours; if I say some things about this, I'll be called senile, so I'll just let these people slowly settle into reality in the next couple of months.
