I still cant believe this project was finished TWO (2 , II , ii , do , die zwei , a dó , dos) Years before the set date of completion.. Miracle or what??
But 1 thing sucks big time - 100 km is the speed limit imposed... feck me.. even on that road a Fiat Padmini can run faster than that.. let alone all the new 1.6 L engine cars.
Went to Germany once... on some areas there is NO SPEED RESTRICTION!!! My cousin has a Subaru.... loved driving it on those stretches of road... 180 Km/ph was the highest I went to !!!
The speed limit has less to do with the expressway and more to do with the quality control / maintenance of cars in India.. A moron with bad brakes driving at 120 kmph is not only a danger to himself but to others around him as well.. In USA, you get a ticket if your back light is broken..or your car inspection (which is mandatory) is overdue.. Till those norms are implemented here, we are doomed to stay under the sub 100 speed limits
This project belonged to the Jaypee Group.
It has been financed by the group themselves ( not sure if they took a loan etc).
The land was acquired by UP govt, the area along the xpressway is seeing remarkable development & prices of land / property is going upwards.
Not sure how long will Jaypee run this . It has three tolls and a one way trip is Rs 320 and a round trip is Rs 510. It has cost 12000 Cr INR.
The approach to this expressway is from the existing free NOIDA - Greater NOIDA free expressway which is 24 km long.
From my house in South Delhi, Agra used to be a 5-7 hour run.. Now its under 3 hours.. (30 mins to Express way entry which is 35 km from my house) and 2.5 hrs to Agra.. Awesome I say...
