13 April, 1948 was an unforgettable day in the history of Pakistan Air Force.
Father of the Nation, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, who had envisioned the then RPAF to be one of the strongest Air Forces of the world, visited RPAF Training School Risalpur on its Passing-out Parade. On the momentous occasion, Quaid-e-Azam was received by Wing Commander Asghar Khan who later on became the first Commander-in-Chief, PAF ; and led from the front for realisation of Quaid’s vision.
It was on this historic day when the Quaid laid out his enduring Vision for PAF. The great Quaid said, “There is no doubt that any country without a strong Air Force is at the mercy of any aggressor. Pakistan must build up her Air Force as quickly as possible. It must be an efficient Air Force, second to none.”
Each member of Pakistan Air Force remains committed to living up to the Quaid’s expectations, and defending Pakistan against all threats.

Today we pay tribute to a remarkable air warrior and former Chief of the Air Staff of Pakistan Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Jamal Ahmed Khan, on his birth anniversary. Born on 15 Apr 1934, young Jamal joined RPAF College, Risalpur in 1952. After completing Jet Conversion Course at Mauripur, Jamal was selected to join the PAF’s first Jet Sqn of Super Marine Attackers, the elite No 11 Sqn. He soon matured into a promising fighter pilot of PAF.
One of the greatest milestones of Jamal’s brilliant career was the feat achieved during Fighter Weapons Instructors’ Course at UK. In Mar 1957, while flying a DH 112 Venom aircraft in an Air-to-Air Gunnery mission at RAF Leconfield, Jamal produced some exceptional results. He graduated with an exceptional grading in air-to-air gunnery for having maintained the highest marksmanship category. The unbelievable record not only earned him great respect but also brought laurels to PAF in international arena.

In 1983, Northrop was on a sales drive to sell their F-20 Tiger shark while flight test was continuing at Edwards AFB. What better way to end a sales pitch than with a flight in the aircraft - Complete with prospective national markings for photos suitable for framing.
The Sales flights were chased by the the Northrop F-5F crewed by Northrop test/Instructor Pilots.
