Something that advanced and the military is asking the public to help locate it is what set this whole saga to be ridiculed. Not just that, but did they really think that if & when it eventually crashes in a pond or a golf course or even in the middle of nowhere, no one would report it immediately? Why ask something that makes you look completely silly?

Their is something seriously wrong with the F35B

The B has an astronomical number of complex and moving parts it's bound to have a higher fail rate, even with all the redundancy.

Regardless of that, it's still operating successfully on carriers in salt water environments and harsh conditions while only having 7 incidents in total. And that's including all 3 versions unless they've covered up any mishaps, especially for the ones that operate out of the belligerent state.

Considering all the training and sorties it performs for the US alone; it's done pretty well.

We’d assume it be flying with a luneberg lens or something. Why fly without it, in the CONUS, especially when the risk of civilian traffic is ever present and it’s not on the way to combat deployment?

The guy in the video a few posts back said it wasn't equipped with luneberg lenses which they usually place 2 on the topside and either 1 or 2 underneath the fuselage. They also said that if it wasn't equipped with them, then it was probably performing some training exercise where it needed to be in stealth mode. But even so, it should've had a transponder for exactly this reason.

Every time I've seen F-22s and F-35s at airshows, they're flying with lenses despite shutting down the entire airspace around the airport. Most likely because they were performing heritage flights with other aircraft and needed to be on their radar.
