The title of the thread is exactly as the news item was reported, but the thing that really disturbs me and which I would like to discuss with our Indian friends is the following:
Mother of one fanatic Hindu who was part of the lynching mob of a Muslim youth for accusing him to eat beef thinks that Yogi is like "god" and will get her son freed.
Isn't it a worrying sign that fanatic Hindu terrorists are given a free hand to do whatever satisfies their religious believes?
‘If we have to choose between the cow and development we will choose the cow’
[...]
But in the village of Bishara in Uttar Pradesh, where a Muslim man was lynched by his Hindu neighbours in 2015 triggering a national outcry, residents celebrated into the night by letting off fireworks and dousing each other with festive coloured powder.
“He is like a god to us,” said Kiran Rana, the mother of one of the 14 men arrested over the killing of 50-year-old Mohammad Akhlaq on suspicion of killing a cow — considered by Hindus to be sacred — for its meat.
“He will get them (our children) out.”
