Lets be clear - there is very little technology or intellectual property that China actually owns, it is mostly "manufacturing" - that includes Smartphones - China is a manufacturing house, making products under direction from global companies who own the technology and intellectual property. There is very little innovation that is going in China relative to its manufacturing right now. China is trying for sure - but they are not at that cross over point where they own the technology and IP ....
Lets not get confused with manufacturing with actual ownership.
India is trying to get into the current trend of moving manufacturing out of China. It will be partially successful as there are lots of other more capable countries that want to muscle in and get some of that relocation money ...
