In an interview to Deccan Herald, Congress leader and former Union Home Minister P Chidambaram said India’s ‘non-military, pre-emptive’ air strike in Pakistan’s Balakot region will not have much impact on the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.

The veteran leader asserted that the general elections will be fought on the issues of unemployment and agrarian distress. He added that issues around a distressed economy and farm sector cannot be neglected.

Slamming Prime Minister Narendra Modi for politicising the Balakot air strikes, Chidambaram told the paper, “If Balakot were to win elections, you might as well vote for the Indian Air Force chief to become the country’s prime minister.”

Chidambaram asserted that the Indian Air Force belongs to the entire nation and not just the BJP. He told the paper, “The IAF struck Balakot and we were the first ones to salute them. I think the matter should have been left there. The unanimity among the political parties should have remained intact as far as national security is concerned. But the BJP is blatantly politicising it.”

The former finance minister also told the publication that Pulwama is not going to promise jobs to the youth — neither is it going to revive medium and small industries, nor is it going to resolve the acute agrarian distress.

Chidambaram was taunting at the NDA government for invoking the February 14 Pulwama attack in order to gain political mileage.

There is zero doubt that IAF shot down a two seater PAF aircraft. IAF suggest it was a F-16

Pakistani citizens of the location themselves has admitted that they saw 3 pilots descend. One of the was mistakenly identified as a "sikh" who was caught and beaten up. The civilian even has blood on his dress which belonged to the "captured pilot".

As to the identity of this mysterious PAF pilot, it could probably be Wing Co.Hyder Shahbaz Ali , the CO of PAF's 19th Sqn "Sherdils".

This is the pilot mistaken to be a Sikh by the mob at Horran Kotla in Azad Kashmir and lynched."Shahzaz" who was identified earlier could actually be "Shahbaz".

This is the man Wing Cmd. Abhinandan shot down in his Mig-21.

The man who shot down Abhinandan was probably Sqn.Ldr Hassan Mehmood Siddiqui.

There is a zero doubt that your two seater was shot down that day. Not a single F-16 crossed the border. Possibility of using 2 seater F-16 is quite low even within Pakistani borders..

Regarding the photos, tomorrow if this guy comes and verifies that he is still alive, you guys will bring another person from internet.. so we are not even taking your changing positions seriously..

Regarding your second pilot, DG ISPR said in his later interview that he has died.. Whether his body has been handed over to India quietly, or not, only our armed forces and your forces know about it.

LOL.... Actually the DG ISPR has quietly withdrawn the statement that 2 IAF aircraft's were shot down

They are now saying that only ONE Aircraft was shot down.

Now that I have provided you wit ha name and picture, why don't your ask your "Free" media to verity the details ? Or are you not interested in finding out the truth about your own soldiers and pilots ?

It as only a matter of time when the truth came out.

Surely, just as you refuse to believe the Pakistani claim of shooting two a two seater pilot due to lack of reliable evidence, shouldn't you hold your own governments claim to a similar standard?

You mention zero doubt about a PAF fight being downed, yet there is only conjecture and guesswork.

You present, as evidence, a video of Pakistani villagers who claim to have caught a sikh pilot. You than use that video to claim that these people who supposedly saw and beat the PAF pilot were mistaken but you, and your Government, which has yet to present any evidence for their own claim, know better? (This is like the fourth time or something that you've changed the name of the Pakistani pilot).

You do realise how unlikely it is that a PAF pilot - Muslim with the name Shahbaz written on his shirt with PAF insignia all over - could be mistaken for a Indian Sikh pilot in Pakistani territory?

Given all of this and the fact that the IAF deployed 2 seater planes in that engagement, why is it impossible that a IAF 2 seater has been downed?

We don't want to.. because you guys have made a mockery of yourselves... tomorrow a new name will surface...

There were three parachutes, two came out of one plane.. that is either your two seat mirage or Su30..

One planes crashed in Pakistan, while the other one on your side..

We have shown the world the wreckage on our side, you haven't shown the wreckage on your side..

1. It is IMPOSSIBLE for the GoI and IAF to lie to the people of India and get away with it. Especial in an ELECTION season.

2. GoI cannot provide any concrete evidence since the dog-fight happened over pakistani airspace and the crash and subsequent pilot landed in P0K. Also why would the GoI do that ? GoI is not interested in winning the propaganda war unlike the PA. They are only interested in winning the real war.

3. As per reports in pakistani, one of the pilot was already injured and the other was dead. That could account for the damaged flight suite.

4. Even if he wasn't lynched and was injured when ejecting, why don't you ask your supposed free media to find out about the names and pictures provided ?
