Look similar to AK 47s

It is the granddaddy of the AK-47 and it was the weapon that influenced the AK-47 most. The USSR was working on a counterpart to the STG 44 since 1943 were they captured early production models of the STG44 and were deeply impressed by its perfromance. They needed help of captured german engineers to master stamped sheet metal for cheap effective reliable production of the AK 47...

The STG 44 was the first mass produced modern assult rifle with a special short full bore round...
Allied reports of it were filled with negative claims... which were simple propaganda bullcrap...
Expert claim that still today the STG44 is one of the best assult rifel ever mad and could stay its ground without problems on a modern battlefield

If you see this weapon in full auto spraying rounds with such a stable you see how excellent it was.

The Lee–Enfield is a bolt-action, magazine-fed, repeating rifle that served as the main firearm used by the military forces of the British Empire and Commonwealth during the first half of the 20th century. It was the British Army's standard rifle from its official adoption in 1895 until 1957.[10][11] The WWI versions are often referred to as the "SMLE", which is short for the common "Short, Magazine Lee–Enfield" variant.

The M1911, also known as the Colt Government or "Government", is a single-action, semi-automatic, magazine-fed, recoil-operated pistol chambered for the .45 ACP cartridge.[7] It served as the standard-issue sidearm for the United States Armed Forces from 1911 to 1986. It was widely used in World War I, World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War. The pistol's formal designation as of 1940 was Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911 for the original model of 1911 or Automatic Pistol, Caliber .45, M1911A1 for the M1911A1, adopted in 1924. The designation changed to Pistol, Caliber .45, Automatic, M1911A1 in the Vietnam War era.[7]

WWII Nazi MG42 light machine gun manufactured Steyr (bnz) in excellent condition. Date code is 1944 production, with 1944 dfb bipod. Fitted with wooden stock, flip up anti-aircraft finger sight. Matching serial numbers on receiver, top cover and charging handle. It had a fantastic rate of fire at 1200 rounds a minute. Known by US troops as Hitler's buzz saw. Still in use in a modified form today. A real German WWII classic.

Almost every insurgency, freedom struggle, gangs, terrorist org has one of these. That and Toyota Land Cruisers/Hilux pickups are a staple of listed orgs.

The cults like following in movies, video games and even on national/organizational flags is another aspect. AK47 is surely an icon.
In modern times, surely the AK-47.

STG 44 the most important and most influential infantry weapon of the 20th century

This weapon not just gave rise to AK47 but design traits can be seen in G3 that followed as well.

The Thompson submachine gun is an American submachine gun invented by John T. Thompson in 1918 which became infamous during the Prohibition era, being a signature weapon of various organized crime syndicates in the United States. It was a common sight in the media of the time, being used by both law enforcement officers and criminals.[18] The Thompson submachine gun was also known informally as the "Tommy Gun", "Tôm Sông", "Annihilator", "Chicago Typewriter", “Trench Broom”, "Chicago Submachine", "Chicago Piano", "Chicago Style", "Chicago Organ Grinder", "Drum Gun","The Chopper", and simply "The Thompson".[19][20][21][22][23]
