New Delhi, July 1, (Scoop News Bureau)_Indian Air Force (IAF) is organising a two day seminar on Air Defence (AD) at Air Force Auditorium, Subroto Park, New Delhi from July 02-03 July, a senior defence official said.
He said Chief of the Air Staff, Air Chief Marshal Arup Raha, would be delivering the opening address of the seminar. The focus of the seminar would be on advanced weapons and their integration into a network centric air defence system for safeguarding the large Indian airspace.
The official said Union War Book mandates the Indian Air Force as being the sole agency responsible for air defence of the Indian airspace and with AD elements being provided to Army and Navy as well, seamless integration and free flow of information is an inescapable need.
"Besides, advances in technology have led to a paradigm shift from platform centric operations towards joint network centric operations", he said adding, "this calls for evolving the appropriate methodology and developing robust procedures for a smooth transition".
The AD Seminar will see the participation of AD experts not only from the sister services but also from other stakeholders like NationalTechnical Research Organisation (NTRO), Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) and Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), he added
"These agencies have embraced modern technologies and achieved significant indigenisation in ways that they now have a major role in enhancing the Nation’s air defence capability", the official said.
