IAF drops plans for foreign jets. Goes ahead with development of AMCA

Oh yes! there's an opportunity to export some more lemons & coconuts to India for this.

Hopefully my not yet born kids' kids will be able to see this day.
Tejas helped develop an aeronautical ecosystem in India and some private Indian defence firms are also in line. Now that we have the necessary testing labs setup and infrastructure in place, the development process of AMCA and MWF should be at a much faster pace. Infact, the MFW should see it's first flight within 5-7 years given that it's a bigger version of the Tejas with commonality in most systems. The major difference is MWF will use the GE-414 instead of the GE-404. Uttam AESA radar has already been tested on the Tejas Mk-1 and should integrate in MWF. Avionics is what needs to be fastracked or outsource to Israel

Let's hope for the best, but history doesn't instill me with much confidence.
