IAF Chief Accepts 2nd Indian C-17 Today

Indeed Champagne for all Americans, 580 millions price tag for each C-17...very good deal :smokin:

Also includes spares and logistics support, training, plus setting up infrastructure cost.Usually the normal cost would be around 300 million.

when all will be delivered the it will be a big boost in Transport fleet of IAF.

This is the best heavy strategic transport in the world atm. With short take off landing capability,it can land on dirtpath and carry 80 tonnes of equipment. Its great for high altitude ops like in china border.

Have to give 1 thing to the americans, they know how to be on schedule..always.

Actually, this is highly doable when you purchases established, mass produced vehicles off the shelf. The delays is caused by one off products and request for TOT. But when its purchase off the shelve, things come in faster.

Have I stated that there were no TOT in this deal. When anyone buy American, there is no TOT deals.

That is incorrect, the United States has transferred significant technology to India, China, Turkey and Brazil among others. As a matter of fact Hindustan Aeronautical Limited was created with US assistance including ToT and machine tools.Google 'William D. Pawley' .

The following year he moved to China where he became president of the China National Aviation Corporation. Over the next five years he built three aircraft factories for the Chinese government of Chiang Kai-shek.

HAL was established as Hindustan Aircraft in Bangalore in 1940 by Seth Walchand Hirachand to produce military aircraft for the Royal Indian Air Force. The initiative was actively encouraged by the Kingdom of Mysore, especially by the Diwan, Sir Mirza Ismail and it also had financial help from the Indian Government. Mysore was favoured because of the availability of cheap electricity.[2] The organisation and equipment for the factory at Bangalore was set up by William D. Pawley of the Intercontinental Aircraft Corporation of New York, an exporter of American aircraft to the region. Pawley managed to obtain a large number of machine-tools and equipment from the United States.
