Directly contradicting the government’s position, a Deputy Inspector General of the Coast Guard said Monday that it was the Coast Guard which blew up the Pakistani boat on the night of December 31, 2014. And that he was the one who ordered: “Blow the boat off…We don’t want to serve them biryani…”

This is the first time that the Coast Guard — in remarks that were recorded — has admitted that it destroyed the suspect boat which, the government claimed, had blown itself up under suspicious circumstances.

Statements and remarks by the MoD, Defence Minister and the Coast Guard had said the boat’s crew had set it on fire or were responsible for the explosion that destroyed the boat 365 miles off Porbandar after an hour-long chase by a Coast Guard ship on New Year’s Eve.

The Indian Express had reported that intelligence and naval sources had said that evidence suggested “use of disproportionate force” by the Coast Guard. The sources also said the videotape of the burning boat did not appear to show that explosives were on board.

The government’s version is now belied by remarks made by DIG B K Loshali — he is also Chief of Staff (North West Region), Coast Guard, Gandhinagar — at a gathering of officials from the Coast Guard and Larsen & Toubro during the launch of Coast Guard interceptor boat ICGS C-421, designed and built by L&T, Surat.

Loshali was speaking in the presence of Coast Guard DIG Sudhir Sahni, in-charge of refit and production; and G Sethy, Deputy Commandant, who are based in Surat. The interceptor boat was formally launched by Loshali’s wife Ira Loshali on the L&T premises at Hazira.

“Let me tell you,” he said, “I hope you remember 31st December night… we blew off that Pakistan… We have blown them off… I was there at Gandhinagar and I told at night, blow the boat off. We don’t want to serve them biryani…”

Loshali began his speech saying, “Mujhe speech di gayi thi lekin main mann se baat karoonga (I was given a (written) speech, but I shall speak my mind).”

So far the Ministry of Defence and Coast Guard have been saying that the purported Pakistani fishing boat due for an “illicit transaction at sea” and identified later as Qalandar, had blown itself up.

That is bad. They attacked a civilian boat in international waters because they just felt like it. This made me remember the Atlantique incident: Atlantique incident - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The boat was in Indian waters just like the Alantique was in Indian airspace.

This admission changes nothing, the boat had still been under continuous surveillance for over 12 hours from their air after the NRTO made intercepts from Pakistan and passed on actionable intel onto the ICG who launched this operation and the vessel was behaving most suspiciously and far from "innocent" and INSIDE INDIAN WATERS.

Smugglers, terrorists, drug traffickers whatever these guys were up to no good and I am not going to shed a tear over their demise.

From international court of justice India is cleared of all charges regarding that incident

Finally, the Court recalls that its lack of jurisdiction does not relieve States of their obligation to settle their disputes by peaceful means. The choice of those means admittedly rests with the parties under Article 33 of the United Nations Charter. They are nonetheless under an obligation to seek such a settlement, and to do so in good faith in accordance with Article 2, paragraph 2, of the Charter. As regards India and Pakistan, that obligation was restated more particularly in the Simla Accord of 2 July 1972. Moreover, the Lahore Declaration of 21 February 1999 reiterated "the determination of both countries to implementing the Simla Agreement". Accordingly, the Court reminds the Parties of their obligation to settle their disputes by peaceful means, and in particular the dispute arising out of the aerial incident of 10 August 1999, in conformity with the obligations which they have undertaken.

Indian lies busted by their own officials. Modi wanted to use this event as propaganda right from the beginning. I wonder if Indian Government was not informed by Coast Guards about the reality of this event before? Is Indian Government so inept that they conceived their stance without listening to police who is responsible to guard Indian Waters?

How many of you (from India) also believe Modi's statement on Kashmir now? How many still believe that Pakistan would want to engage with India while PA's hands are fully busy fighting terrorist on the opposite border? How many in India still think they are as retard as Modi wants them to be?

How many should believe that Pakistan despite so many terrorists killing night and day and with Govt. support arenot being used against India?

How many prev chiefs of various arms have admitted that Kargil was a operation to backstab India? How many have clearly said that your state sponsors terrorists?

Stop being a moron.

How credible were the intercepts ? How do we know they weren't disinformation like that RAW intel of LeT suspects which turned out to be security guard in Lahore. Your ICG blew up the chance of investigating properly and it became another embarrassing incident. Make sense Modi didn't play the victim card of terror boat during Obama visit
