Zia was a dictator he didn't represent any Pakistani. CIA really did a number of some Pakistanis, how can anyone use the name of Islam to justify America's war, fought with American money and training but with Muslim blood. This is pure CIA propaganda playbook.

It’s not secret soviets had its eyes on Pakistan’s ports and iran was looking to expand its influence and revolution in the region. Zia was a genius who used America to defeat soviets who eventually wanted to take over Pakistani ports and zia kept Iran in check while still countering india and achieving the most gdp growth Pakistan seen in its history and reviving the economy Bhutto killed.

Back then Pakistan was too weak. You would not have behaved any differently if you were Musharraf. Those were desperate times.
