New Delhi:In an apparent dig at Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi, former Supreme Court judge Justice Markandey Katju on Friday said that he, being a Hindu, has eaten beef and will continue to eat it.

“I am a Hindu, and I have eaten beef, and will again eat it. There is nothing wrong in beef eating. 90% of the world eats beef. Are they all sinners ? And I refuse to believe that cow is sacred or our mother. How can an animal be a mother of a human being ? That is why I say 90% Indians are idiots, Mr. Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi included,” Justice Markandey Katju posted on his Facebook page.

Naqvi on Thursday justified ban on cow slaughter and asked all those who want to eat beef to go to Pakistan.



"It is not about loss or profit... it is an issue of faith and belief. It is a sensitive issue for the Hindus," Naqvi said at TV Channel show.



"Those who are dying without eating beef, can go to Pakistan or Arab countries or any other part of world where it is available," he said.



"Even Muslims are against it..." he contended.

jesus man, this guy is taking things out of context. SUre eating or not eating beef is an individual choice but the religion does not talk about Cows as 'literal' mothers. Aincient hindus were hardcore beef eaters which led to an enormous shortage of milch cattle. This along with the rise of Brahminism which looked at eating meat as 'impure' led to the imposition of a status equilvalent to a sacred figure to cows. One cannot dispute that majority of history Indian subcontinent benifited from the fact that ,milch cattle were not slaughtered in large numbers. The milk has been a great source of nutrition for the people, already malnourished until operation Flood.
