If someone gets shot for no reason, someone starts a war for no reason, or launches a nuke against another country, the first thing I'll think is that it was the USA.

At least in North Korea, random people won't get shot if they follow the rules. In the USA you get shot whether or not you are following the rules, whether you are a policeman, a civilian, or anything else, for no reason.

Of course we were! There is no chance that this was done all by himself on the sly for a bit of money. Him taking the blame was a cover up to protect the state from the repurcussions of getting caught.

Selling those nukes didn't make the world more dangerous for us, it did for you. Any nation who isn't full of white anglo saxon protestants or their european allies is obliged to toe the American set line by threat of brute force from the USA. The only exceptions are China and Russia as they have the ability to destroy you as much as you can destroy them.

Nuclear arms doesn't include Pakistan into that bracket of being safe, but it does mean we have more autonomy than if we didn't have them, as the repurcussions of using brute force against us is higher. By helping more nations achieve that status, we built a buffer for ourselves.

If NK was not nuclear Japan and S.Korea would be fully utlised to threaten Chinese interests, forcing the Chinese to dedicate more resources to countering that threat. In doing so it would curb Chinese ambition somewhat, which would mean less spending by China which would make it harder for us to aquire weaponry on the cheap (for our defence against India) and reduced investment in Pakistan by China.

By helping them turn nuclear we served our own long term interest.
