Hundreds of French citizens in Japan attended a rally at the French Embassy in Tokyo on Sunday, with French Ambassador Thierry Dana urging them to remain united in the fight against terrorism.
The rally was attended by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga, the government’s top spokesman, as well as Tokyo Gov. Yoichi Masuzoe.

“We have been strongly shocked and feel indignant” over the “inhuman and despicable acts,” Suga said in a meeting with Dana earlier in the day.

“We offer our heartfelt sympathies over the people who died,” Suga said, adding that Japan “resolutely condemns” the attacks.

During the rally, Dana reported that a French citizen who lived in Tokyo was killed during one of the simultaneous attacks carried out in the French capital Friday night.

French police questioned on Sunday the relatives of one of the suicide attackers, with France denouncing the coordinated strikes that killed 129 people and injured 352 — including 99 in serious condition — as an act of war, vowing to destroy the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, in Turkey for the Group of 20 summit, instructed Suga to step up counterterrorism measures in response to Friday’s attacks, Suga said Saturday.

The government plans to collect terrorism-related information, strengthen security and immigration control and take measures to ensure the safety of Japanese abroad.

Earlier Sunday, the chairman of the National Public Safety Commission, Taro Kono, suggested on a TV program that the government will do its utmost to collect and analyze intelligence in the wake of the attacks.

“Next year, we will host a Group of Seven summit and the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics are approaching in 2020,” Kono said, adding that he intends to take all measures needed to prevent terrorism.

During the rally on Sunday, the French ambassador said that he feels “a pain” in his chest when thinking of the victims, their families and their heartbreaking losses.

“We need to show a sense of solidarity,” he said through a translator.

“Our strength is the fact that we remain united,” he added.

France “should clearly continue measures against terrorism.”

The ambassador also thanked Japanese officials for quickly expressing support in the immediate aftermath of the attacks.

Following the ambassador’s speech, participants sang the French national anthem, “La Marseillaise.”

On a table set up in the compound, visitors offered floral bouquets dedicated to those killed.

Shortly before the rally, Foreign Minister Fumio Kishida met with Dana and vowed that Tokyo would “stand by” France in its fight against terrorism.

“We consider such a terrorist act a challenge to our shared values,” Kishida said. “We want to say again that we, Japan, stand by France.”

In response, the ambassador thanked Japan for its “solidarity.”

Elsewhere in the capital Sunday evening, Tokyo Tower was bathed in the red, white and blue of the French national flag in a show of unity with Paris. The tower, inspired by the Eiffel Tower, usually shines orange from sunset until 11 p.m.

Meanwhile, a few hundred people, mostly non-Japanese, gathered in front of JR Shibuya Station on Sunday evening to show support, singing the French national anthem while holding up signs with a drawing depicting the Eiffel Tower as a symbol of peace.

That's a nice gesture. Will they now run to the Lebanese embassy and hold a vigil?

I found your post kinda retarded. Of course the French gonna go to the French embassy. Why don't the Lebanese go to the Lebanese embassy for Virgil? Or the Turkish to the Turkish embassy?

Or are they just don't care for their own fellow citizens?

Do you see what happen when I dumb my logic down to your level?

That's a nice gesture. Will they now run to the Lebanese embassy and hold a vigil?

Or better yet, why are they not out on the street and celebrate those bombings like some part of the Middle east did during the in the aftermath of Charlie Hebdo or September 11.

I don't know why an Vietnamese immigrant is responding to this? Who said the Lebanese have not done this. Have you even bothered to find out? NO! My question to the Francs is you people show that you have humanity and care for others and this is the impression given to us. Why are your lives worth more than others?

I am not asking a Vietnamese immigrant to answer this as you're a nobody!

Or better yet, why are they not out on the street and celebrate those bombings like some part of the Middle east did during the in the aftermath of Charlie Hebdo or September 11.

Some are estimating from 1990 Gulf-War to present over 5million Muslims have been murdered. in 1990s; rapes of Muslim women in Bosnian War from dirty Christendom ran into est.100,000 and murders of Muslims. So don't you dear come here and tell me about 9/11 or any other crap.

.
above that they want sympathy from us

lol, no. They don't need sympathy from you. I do hope people like you are clear on the issues. Go and have a microphone and take it to a public place in Australia and said, "f.uck the French!!!!" Be loud and clear. I need more muslims to step up and be frank and honest about their views of the world. That is the best solution. I don't need no fake sympathy.

.
Problem here is they don't value our lives. We are still a slave for them. They are attacking and looting us from quite long, from our oil to our dignity. They are killing us, raping our women's, making our kids orphans and above that they want sympathy from us when few of them get killed. Why don't they go to Syrian embassy everyday in their country to show solidarity.

This is my point and they're always trying to make the victim feel guilty. They are the ones who bombed Libya and caused the mayhem and in Iraq. The outcome is exactly as they wanted it to be. They've been eyeing our country and they tried and failed at the moment in breaking us up. Why did our munafaq syasdan make provnces on ethnic and tribal lines? Look at the map of Times magazine and their plans for us. We will fight before we allow that to happen insha'ALLAH!

Muslims should take some credits for the Arab Spring, for their own ideologies. Come on man. Isn't the Arab Spring is to take down government? Or the best of the best of the best scenario for the Middle east is to have dictators like the guy in Libya that rape young girls constantly. Because you guys need big brother to reign you in.

American foreign polices suck a.ss. American foreign polices can be and have at time counter productive for World peace. But objectively, Islam is way way way way way worst than American foreign policies.

And the world can only wake up, if proud muslims are stepping up and voice their honest opinions. Don't coward under the whole racism, bigotry, islamphobia. Don't play those western bullcrap game. Be frank and honest to your neighbors, so they can judge your views honestly.

Same with the goddam Americans. Spread goddam Democracy in the Middle East. What a joke.

Who are you ? A french or an Australian. Why should we have to show sympathy to a third world country like you who itself cannot raise it's voice against chinese. Go back to your trawler and hunt fish.

Sympathy? Why the hell do I need your sympathy? To wipe my a.ss with it?
You can cry me a river, and I would stand at laugh in your face. Sympathy? We are beyond sympathy.
The mistrust is so deep. That there is no sympathy. My dear Muslim friend who converse with me everyday. The first thing he said. The Americans planed the bombing in Paris because they want to f.uck over the refugees.

How can there be sympathy? There is no sympathy.
I want the Americans to get the hell out of the Middle East. But if they gonna stay to fight ISIS. Then make it a war, stop dance around with "conflicts" and "airstrike." Civilian causalities be damn. Did the Germans stop and think about the British civilians while dropping bombs on them. Come on.

Before you boldly advocate the conjecture in designating other individuals as retarded, please make an appointment with an English teacher to improve your linguistic writing skills. However, this expectation is too high because stupidity has been ingrained into your DNA when America was using cluster bombs to destroy targets in Vietnam. The rally was attended by Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshihide Suga who is a top Government spokesman and the Governor of Tokyo Yoichi Masuzoe. These robotic simpletons did not hold a vigil for the victims of Ankara, because clearly their blood is worth less than French blood. Obviously the French have every right to hold a vigil in Tokyo, however my main attention is towards the double standards of Japanese politicians.

Or better yet, why are they not out on the street and celebrate those bombings like some part of the Middle east did during the in the aftermath of Charlie Hebdo or September 11.

Instead of wasting precious internet bandwidth please concentrate on researching more, especially on the $1 tricks Vietnamese women use to service for American troops. When the world is celebrating the bombings of Syria, they have no idea that the intelligence reports on legitimate targets is flimsy and the only victims are innocent civilians. Therefore, under no circumstances are you in any position to preach the doctrine of morality to us, because the amount of war crimes done by the American Government and the Communists Government of Vietnam is off the charts.

I can consume a whole bowl of alphabet soup and excrete out a much better statement, than the cesspit nonsense mentioned by you above. The Americans toppled Saddam Hussein in 2003 and dissolved the Republican Guard along with its entire military infrastructure. This was allowed to transpire in the first place because a consensus was reached between the relevant parties that the solders would receive monthly pension packages. Obviously this outcome did not occur and grievances against the new Iraqi state with its coalition backers became transparent, when new vigilante groups decided to arm themselves and indoctrinate the population to radicalization. America's sectarian politics in Iraq also became obvious, when the Shia community was allowed to control the entire state machinery of Iraq, which alienated the Sunni community and radicalized them to join nefarious terrorists groups. The Republican Guards were promised by the coalition forces that they would be reinstated into the new Iraqi, however this step never occurred since the new regional commanders after 2003, were from the Shia community who rejected Sunni applicants. The final nail in the coffin was sealed when America decided to use camp Bucca to rehabilitate radicalized individuals. 30,000 common criminals were mixed with radical known terrorists who obviously brainwashed them to follow their ideology. This is one of the main reasons why the city of Mosul fell so quickly, since ISIS had tremendous support. Therefore, America is the main culprit behind the existence of ISIS and western public anguish should be directed towards them and the killers. What legitimate right does NATO have in bombing a sovereign country and helping rebels to topple a leader who created a system in his country where the income per capital was one of the highest in North Africa. Colonel Qaddafi was a disgusting man, however at least in his rule militants did not roam around the country killing innocent civilians and now ISIS is about to control the country. Lets not forget about Afghanistan, where after 14 years of killing over 100,000 civilians the Americans are prepared to negotiate a peace settlement with Taliban:) Why did America not involve itself in Bahrain when the population was raising up against the Monarchy and asking for democracy? The reason is simple because it was not in your national interests as billions of dollars worth of contracts were far more important. The Arab Spring was good, however why did America sanctioned the Muslim Brotherhood when they achieved the mandate from the people of Egypt?

Islam is a religion you nincompoop and it has nothing to do with foreign policy, seriously the education system in America and Vietnam needs reform, because your analytical skills are atrocious. Islam is a reality and it has a following of 1.6 billion people and its rising drastically as more individuals in the western world are interested to convert into the religion. You remind me of a banana and only Allah shall judge our honesty not some wannabe American whose fellow countrymen use to play $1 tricks

Civilian causalities be damn. Did the Germans stop and think about the British civilians while dropping bombs on them. Come on.

The Germans did not give a damn about British civilians while they were dropping bombs on them, however history has always remembered them as monsters and their legacy is tarnished.
