2020-07-06 22:22:19 GMT+8 | cnTechPost

Huawei ranked first in the 5G telecom equipment market in Q1 with a 35.7% market share, well ahead of the second place holder Ericsson's 24.6%.

The third to fifth places were Nokia (15.8 percent), ZTE (13.2 percent) and Samsung (9.3 percent), respectively.

Compared to Q4 2019 figures, Huawei's market share grew by 0.4 percentage points and Ericsson's by 0.8 percentage points. Nokia slipped by 4.5 percentage points, ZTE grew by 3 percentage points and Samsung slipped by 1.2 percentage points.

According to Dell'Oro Group's previously published Q4 2018 to Q4 2019 5G telecoms data, even against the backdrop of US sanctions, Chinese telecom equipment manufacturer Huawei's market share still maintained its steady growth and managed to overtake Samsung for the top spot in the second quarter of last year.

According to data revealed in February this year by Huawei's Managing Director and President of Carrier BG, Ding Yun, as of then, Huawei had gained 91 5G commercial contract, 5G Massive MIMO AAU (Active Antenna) Unit) module shipped more than 600,000 units worldwide.

Another Chinese major telecom equipment maker, ZTE, also performed well.

While ZTE had almost zero market share in 5G telecom equipment at the time of the first quarter of 2019, since the second quarter of 2019 it began to see rapid growth.

In the third quarter of 2019, ZTE even exploded to get 9.7% of the market share, and in the following two quarters it also kept Continued rapid growth.

By the time of the first quarter of this year, it had taken ZTE, which started from zero, just one year to overtake Samsung, which had first-mover advantage, to take the 13.2% market share, ranking fourth.

According to Dell'Oro Group data, ZTE's 5G base station shipments started in Q2 2019 .

And according to previous data released by ZTE, as of September 2019, ZTE has won 35 commercial 5G contracts around the world. 5G cooperation with more than 60 operators around the world, and more than 50,000 5G base stations have been shipped globally.

By the end of 2019, ZTE has shipped more than 100,000 5G base stations.

It's worth mentioning that the 5G base stations currently shipped in large numbers are powered by ZTE's self-developed 7nm 5G base station chips.

In July last year, ZTE executive director and president Xu Ziyang said in a media interview that in terms of 5G base station chips, ZTE 7nm process (base station) chips have been designed and mass produced, while 5nm process 5G chips are being developed.

The latest information also shows that ZTE's 5nm base station chips are also in the technology introduction stage and are expected to be mass-produced commercially next year. And this is expected to further boost ZTE's continued market share growth in 5G telecom equipment.

In addition, Huawei and ZTE's 5G telecom market share continued to grow thanks to the acceleration of China's 5G investment and construction.

On June 6 this year, at the first anniversary of 5G licensing online summit, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) released data showing that on the first anniversary of the commercialization of 5G China's basic telecom companies are building more than 250,000 5G base stations.

By the end of this year, China is expected to build more than 600,000 5G base stations, covering cities above the prefecture level nationwide.

Despite american attacks and all propaganda from American boot licker in here.

Huawei & ZTE market share in Global 5G Telecom Market keep rising :enjoy:Meanwhile, Nokia and Samsung keep declining in the expense of Huawei & ZTE rising market

. .
We need to understand 5G is only for commercial use. Its overkill for simple man.

Also 5G requires 100 times more infrastructure as compared to 4G due to limitations of blocking by anything between phone and antenna.

No one will be easily willing to invest in 5G unless its worth getting some profit which is not possible in poor countries.

China/Huawei has to win Arab countries for 5G orders in order to compete . Otherwise it will be difficult for Huawei, and late deployments means other companies will catchup and will be in market as well

Dhahran in the Eastern province will be one of the first cities to benefit from the agreement
Huawei and Smart City Solutions Company (SC2), a leading Saudi service provider and operator and part of the Batic Group, have signed an agreement to collaborate on smart city projects in Saudi Arabia.

Projects will contribute to the goals of the National Transformation Plan 2020 and Saudi Vision 2030, which is a blueprint for a new phase of development built on the three pillars of a vibrant society, thriving economy and ambitious nation.

ICT infrastructure

The first project under the agreement is the implementation of smart parking, smart lighting and video analytics solutions, powered by artificial intelligence algorithms, and a robust ICT infrastructure for the Eastern province covering the cities of Al Khobar, Dammam and Dhahran.

The agreement will enable both entities to plan and execute their activities in collaboration and jointly operate the smart city platform and services for their customers.

The initial service portfolio will focus on parking and mobility services, energy-saving and lighting management, smart waste management and safety and security services. The portfolio also includes an intelligent operation centre that covers all city activities on a real-time basis, providing decision-making support and monitoring of a city’s key performance indicators.

“SC2 was established with a vision to be the first smart city operator in Saudi Arabia, a proposition which is missing in the market today,” said Ahmed ALSanaa, chairman of the board of Batic.

He continued: “It engages with city managers and developers in public private partnership models providing a unique central citizen experience and enable city officials to take informed decisions to provide efficiency to its operations.”

David Shi, Middle East president, Huawei Enterprise, said the partnership with SC2 allows them to approach the smart cities market with “innovative models” of sharing risks and rewards with all city developers and operators.

“It engages with city managers and developers in public private partnership models providing a unique central citizen experience”

Adnan ALMarshad, CEO of SC2, added: “SC2 and Huawei are joining their efforts to provide the market with agile smart city service portfolio and operating models that can be tailored to different types of cities whether governmental, private or special-purpose economic zones.

“Our first project under this agreement is the Dammam parking project in which SC2 is contracted for 25 years to operate start-of-the-art parking and command centres for AL Khobar, Dammam and Dhahran cities. The leadership of Huawei in the smart cities market in Saudi Arabia made the perfect choice for SC2 to embark on this great journey.”

Dubai Economy is inviting Huawei users to benefit from its smart and innovative ‘Dubai Consumer’ app available on the Huawei AppGallery as part of enhancing consumer rights awareness and protection.

The Dubai Consumer, the official app of Dubai Economy promoting consumer rights awareness and protection in Dubai, was launched on the Huawei AppGallery last year and become one of the top UAE essential applications.

Mohammed Ali Rashed Lootah, CEO, Commercial Compliance & Consumer Protection (CCCP) sector, Dubai Economy, said: “We are very pleased with our cooperation with Huawei in making the Dubai Consumer app available to its users. Dubai Economy is committed to the smart transformation of Dubai, and we are seeing an increasing number of consumers who want to use the app to communicate with us and improve their awareness of their rights.

“The application being available on the Huawei AppGallery has supported our efforts to ensure that consumers are still able to continue to access Dubai Government services from the safety and convenience of their own homes, through Huawei devices, despite the restrictions mandated by COVID-19.”

The ‘IP Gateway’ app of CCCP, which allows traders to open files and submit complaints relating to intellectual property (IP) infringement in Dubai from anywhere, anytime has also been added to the Huawei AppGallery. Brand owners, representatives and patent holders can use the app to file complaints and also track the investigation, monitoring and confiscation processes of Dubai Economy, as well as obtain data and reports on the action. The app is aligned to the leadership’s directive on a manual-to-smart transformation of processes that protect IP rights.

The Huawei AppGallery features innovative apps that have been specifically developed to unlock advanced software and hardware capabilities of Huawei smart devices. All apps in the Huawei AppGallery have been created with a ‘security first’ approach, and are thoroughly tested before launch, which ensures that apps have the highest standards of data protection and security. These measures ensure that users get the best possible experience from apps running on their Huawei smart devices.
