You walking somewhere and a bloke for whatever reason starts swearing at you looking to fight and provoking you, getting on your nerves but he hasn't thrown the first punch yet...what would you do?

Put as much distance between you and that person, i.e walk away. Ignore the words coming from them. No need to put yourself as risk physically and legally unless you absolutely have to. By that I mean if you or a loved one is in danger and they have actually gotten physical. Also, make sure you shout for help and for people to call the police if you need to.

Wonderful advice, Thank you, you know once out of anger i slammed my friend on the ground and he fell unconscious for a while...it was a scary experience, a mix of guilt, fear and panic...i thought he was gonna die and i started crying and shaking, the old bloke's fine now but that incident still haunts me, so many lives including mine could have been ruined coz i was too stupid not to walk away...anger is a bitch, the sooner youngsters realize it the better it is

I have been in such situations many times. Always avoided confrontation unless it was time to throw some punches and send him whining to his mama.
Note: If you don`t address this issue, it becomes a norm and you have to suffer emotionally.

I had a fight years ago. Guy was swearing at my classmates and wanted to fight so I tried to stop him but he turned towards me and tried to head butt me but I backed off and started punching him in the face. He fell down then I put his shirt over his face and continued punching him. When he got up his whole face was changed and I instantly regretted of what I did so I ran away.:D

First check if his hands are empty. If he is holding anything then run away. If he is bigger than you(not the same weight class) run away. If you think you got enough punching power to knock him out then start throwing punches and only target the face. When he is on the floor knocked out cold then run away.

Ignore him and go ahead.
That's actually very difficult. But once you have learned the art of ignoring the useless things. And start enjoying the beauty of small things you would not enjoy the life.

I my university, some of my friends got into some fight with the people of other faculty. All of us friends are supposed to go together and fight them.
Apparently the one who got into fight didn't even bother to ask, he expects everyone to fight with him.
I found that very strange. I told him to be rational and don't fight . Only broken bones and open heads and broken noses etc.
They all blamed me to chicken out. Too soft to fight etc.
They went to fight on the road, everyone seeing and no one reports. And some got into severe trouble and went to icu. And it was indeed me who bought the teachers to stop this stupidity.
Did I do wrong by saving their life.
I don't understand this code boys have that friends would fight behind your back even if you are wrong. No. That's stupid. Life is more precious then fighting with hockey or belts or college fights over petty things.

Are you a man or women that changes things greatly. If you are a women better tell someone like father or brother.

. . .
It depends if a person is total stranger and way bigger than me than I would try my best to avoid confrontation and if I know the person than I seriously never gave a thought to this.
