Sharif's problem was in order to get a UAE work visa, he had to draw salary from a UAE based company, which he did from his son's company. This is what worked against him. He did nothing illegal in that sense. That's why he was dismissed and elections are being held.

Once dismissed, he is no longer protected from jail, soooooooo jail time.

And the verdict was deliberately done before elections in order to influence it, while also preventing Sharif from standing for elections.

In India, the judge would have dismissed the assets case right away for lack of proof.

Then 20 years later they send you to jail because you and your family stayed in a bungalow that you could not afford on your meagre salary, especially since your son was too young to be earning that kind of money. So they decide you bought that bungalow in your son's name using ill-gotten wealth. And the court refused to entertain the fact that it was the rich uncle who owned the bungalow. That's how stupid the case against Sharif is.

In any "real" court, the judge would have laughed the prosecution out of the door.

And no, in the US they won't put you behind bars for 10 years just because someone has accused you of being corrupt. Innocent until proven guilty. Nawaz is yet to be proven he is guilty.

but as we know 5-10% of population has low IQ, so pakistan wrote it in the law as well as per section 9 :5A a public office holder should bear the burden of proof to explain any unexplained assets..this law was written 15 years ago
