How widespread is private firearms ownership in Pakistan?

I dont know about other provinces but almost everyone have guns in KPK. I would say the people of KPK would have more guns than an army. It has to do with the culture i guess. We have about 5 Ak47s, 5 9mms, 3 kalakovs and one LMG. We used to have an RPG too at some point.

Is it true that in KPK it was at some point possible to get a license for an artillery piece?

Bro the Hunter nature and protecting belongings/turf had a great amount of impact on man's culture. Islam however tamed this evolved nature into considering arms just as tools to survive hence like others we don't celebrate war.

I dont know abt that but most ppl dnt care abt license. Infact there is no license given by govt for an AK but everyone have it.

Hello comrades,

I've been wondering. Just how much Pakistanis are owning guns/assault riflers/machineguns?

Honestly they are as easy to obtain as sweets. My region of AJK virtually all households have light weapons e.g. 9mm pistols, shotguns etc. Many have heavy assault weapons e.g. AK-47's, MP5 clones etc. Some folks have RPG's and heavy machine guns.

A few examples of 'fun' firing at weddings in AJK.

Other regions it's far crazier such as our brothers from the Pashtun heartlands lol.

I once read an article years ago, don't remember where I read but... It quoted some stats that Pakistani public have 7 guns for every Indian soldier.

We have many guns in interior sindh. At least everyone has a shotgun and pistol but many people have aks as well. Most guns probably aren’t licensed because government made it next to impossible to get a license for a ak and in some areas of interior sindh you need a gun to live.

In Pakistan many people used to own multiple guns on a single license. I don't know if it's the same now or things changed. We have 1 russian made AK-47 and 2 9 mm.

There’s no point in government making it so hard to get a license for aks when aks are easily available all over Pakistan and many people own them. Their just helping the black market for guns and helping criminals get rich. Instead if they made licenses easy for aks they would destroy the illegal gun market and know who owns what and be able to make sure they don’t fall into the hands of criminals and terrorists.
