I find it funny some Vietnamese members here are peddling the notion that their country is a perfect replacement for China and that they’re about to surpass them in tech, quality manufacturing etc. Imagine being happy about receiving slave wages for being exploited lmao.

To be fair, manufacturing should be the primary focus of any economy, and it doesn't have to be low wages. When a country has to rely on service economy, it's practically dependent on the manufacturing countries, the USA has shown that, as well as Hong Kong.

What matters is that Vietnam should advance into higher tech manufacturing while also keeping the lower tech ones like textile. Self-sufficiency and domestic market should be goal.
