Manusmriti is the teachings Manu gave to a group of Rishis led by Rish Bhrigu when they approched him and asked him about the duties of the four Varna.

It is a "smriti" which literally means that which is remembered and was orrally passed down before it was written down after the invention of the written script.

It is a "Law" , but not a "legal law", it is the Law of dharma that governs Mankind and helps sustain Dharma in the world.

It talks about duties and rituals for the First Yuga that is the "Satya Yuga" or "Age of Truth". It is not for the Kali Yuga.

For Kali Yuga the smriti is the Prasara Smriti and NOT the manu smriti whic is exclusively for the Satya yuga.

So its neither a "document", nor written for 'brahmins" , nor is it exclusively for "brahmins".

Also there is NOTHING called "chanakya Law". Though there is something called "Vidur Niti".

It talks about conduct of a king for the welfare of his kingdom.
