What a joke,Maharashtra is what it is because of Mumbai which serves as gateway for all of India. All the companies have their headquarters there, the navy has a base there, its port is major entry point for goods. It hauls goods from all over north India. The whole prosperity of maharashtra rests on being a industrial, commercial and transport hub.By itself maharashtra is an agricultural deficit area with mediocre irrigation and rainfall and low yields and no mineral resources either. It is by becoming the port, hub and a cultural centre of India that it is so prosperous. You talk about stealing jobs, you talk about revenue...there wouldn't be any revenue or jobs in the area at all without it being the pan indian urban centre that it is.
You regionalists always ignore the massive benefits you get and only focus on negatives.By themselves these small 20 odd states of India are weak and even inferior to bangladesh and pakistan. Some have agricultural resources, some have mineral resources, some have strategic location,no state has everything.South India has no real mineral resources -that comes from bihar, jharkhand area.Bulk of agricultural produce comes from Punjab,WB,UP.South India is highly valued, look at the large number of strategic facilities that are built there - nuclear reactors, the main nuclear fission producing underground city, main naval base at karwar. Many of our top scientists are south indian.Bangalore is the tech giant it is because it attracts talent from all over India.North India is the consumer market for a huge number of products produced in the south, with zero tariff barrier or restrictions.
The ultimate lie is these small states could be anything significant on their own. They would be weak militarily, economically, lack access to critical resources and markets, many would be landlocked, and helpless against foreign invasions from china or pakistan.Due to their small size and power they would have minimal influence and voice on the global stage. No one would care or bother about their concerns -like who cares about bangladesh?Who cares about sri lanka? But a nation of 1.3 billion with a nuclear arsenal ,a huge army and one of the largest economies? Then you can make your presence felt.
Some people still live in 19th century parochial thinking, the world today is integrated .Get on with the times.Small states are really just helpless in the hands of big powers and have to rely on their benevolence.
