According to an estimate, US military is leaving around $6 billion worth of goods and around 850 MRAPs in Afghanistan.
The stuff includes 850 MRAPs (mine resistant ambushed protected vehciles) 0.5 million weapons, 0.1 million vehicles and 0.2 million night goggles. Each of the MRAP cost around $1 million to build. However, they would cost $0.1 million to be shipped back home.
Military vehicle equipment ‘white gear’ worth 170 million pounds is being left behind including generators, furniture, electrical equipment and more.
Some reports have stated that this stuff will be auctioned by US military through different schemes.
According to Foxnews.com, US defense logistics agency (DLA) has sold 34 million pounds of non-military equipment to Afghan vendors.
The report is somewhat dubious in the wake of a claim by SIGAR (Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction) John Sopko that USAID is not doing its work properly.
