Salman Khan has two cases against him. Hit & run + drunken driving and hunting an endangered deer.

He will be punished for both.

Yes...they are not...not sure why this country have so much emotions for people who have played with Law...I saw the similar drama during Sanjay Dutt case...and there were morons who wanted him to be left alone!!

Actually the sentence is for culpable homicide, all other charges are lesser. Nobody gets 5 years for a hit & run or drunk driving unless someone is dead and they are charged with culpable homicide.
Hit and Run should definitely ask for a decent jail term....you can't just bulldoze someone down your car and leave them alone half dead!!

    Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail. He was held guilty of all eight charges in the 2002 hit-and-run case.

    HERE ARE THE LIVE UPDATES ON SALMAN KHAN HIT-AND-RUN CASE VERDICT:

    1.37 pm: Salman Khan will move bail soon after order copy. Right now, he is surrounded by family and friends inside the courtroom.

    1.35 pm: No more compensation shall be given to the victims.

    1.32 pm: This is the van by which Salman Khan will be taken to jail.



    1.27 pm: Salman Khan has been sentenced to five years in jail in the hit-and-run case.

    1.20 pm: Court held due to power failure.

    1.07 pm: Electricity gone inside the courtroom.

    12.59 pm: Salman Khan’s driver Ashok Singh might face perjury charges.

    12.55 pm: Baba Siddiqui trying real hard to reach Salman Khan standing near the dock.

    Inspector Rajendra Kale, the inspector assisting the prosecutor who was given a notice for recreating the scene has attended every hearing. He says, “feels like an exam.     Salman’s newlywed sister had also met him ahead of the verdict. She arrived with her husband Aayush Sharma.



    8.35 am: Salman’s defence: For the first time in 12 years, the actor’s driver Ashok Singh came forward and confessed that it was he who was driving on the night of the accident.

    8.30 am: On the night of the accident: Bar manager Rizwan Rakhangi told the court that he had seen Salman sipping a clear liquid. Bar attendant Malay Bag said he had served Salman and his friends white rum and cocktails, besides prawns and chicken.

    8.20 am: Abdullah Shaikh, 35, one of the four persons injured in the accident, is however “disillusioned” and feels this is a case of “justice delayed and justice denied”.

    8.10 am: The actor is facing charges of culpable homicide and will face 10 years prison time if found guilty.

    8.05 am: Khan is accused of running over five persons sleeping on a platform outside a bakery in Bandra, in his white Land Cruiser, early September 28, 2002, killing one of them.

    A Mumbai court is set to pronounce its verdict in the 2002 hit-and-run case involving Bollywood actor Salman Khan. When Judge D W Deshpande pronounces his verdict in the 12-year-old case, there will be 100 policemen inside and outside the 52nd courtroom at the Bombay City Civil and Sessions Court to maintain law and order.

    If convicted, Salman Khan would be taken into court custody and sent to Arthur Road jail until Prisons department decides which jail is suited for him.
