You've said this before too but I never understood why those two things have to be mutually exclusive? The establishment t goal was hegemony and not prosperous Pakistan. Their shallow thinking in the economy, foreign policy, and politics has created a fiasco.
In their mind, they do good things (or inheritedly evil), but they make it worse.
Why can't they have both? - hegemony and a prosperous Pakistan. Does the CCP not have both?
Also I entirely agree with the criticism on the level of their competency, to endeavour in acts of hegemony and acting as a deep-state controlling everything - competency and meritocracy is a must. And you must have a diverse pool of opinions to debate within - of course all of them with the same national interests in mind still.
My opinion: the establishment is attempting to be a force of good, but is failing due to a mix of their own ineptness and due to inherently how difficult this situation (Pakistan) is to handle. We need a thread along the lines of: "Is the Establishment truly a force for good?"
That clear a lot of things up, if we come to a proper conclusion
I believe it is entirely possible though but they must enforce a strict policy of meritocracy - this is something which is missing from Pakistan and it's painful.
