ISLAMABAD (Staff Report) – Renowned lawyer Asma Jahangir has filed a petition in the Supreme Court seeking details about the radio stations being run by the media wing of Pakistan Army, ISPR, under the constitution’s right to information section.

According to media reports, the lawyer has requested the apex court to reveals the number of radio stations being run by ISPR, the source of funding and the number of journalists being paid by the organisation.

“FM 89.04 and FM 96.00 are working in 55 cities of the country and the Pakistan Electronic Media regulatory Authority (PEMRA) is unable to control the transmission of the radio stations, hence the Supreme Court must disclose the information in the public interest,” she said in the petition.

She further added that PEMRA had rejected the ISPR’s license request for the mentioned radio stations in 2007, however, they are still operational.

Asma Jahangir also urged the court to ask the ISPR about the source of funding for running these media outlets, further alleging that social teams were also being used to propagate false information about some people on the behalf of the ISPR>

It may also be noted here that the issue of the illegal radio stations of ISPR was brought to the notice of the Supreme Court during the hearing of another case, at which the court had directed her to file a petition to this effect.

She should just pick up Hilal and read the list of people on editorial board... she will know how many Journalists are working for ISPR... why waste energy on something that is easy to answer.

Even better she should get a copy of Military Inc. that would give her and idea on the kind of businesses Pakistani Army runs and profits from.

Whats wrong with this lady, she is in the same band wagon as Hussain Haqani. She keeps chasing absurd causes. The ISPRs media wing has been doing great work and the radio channels and media liaisons were setup to counter what the militants were doing. Were was she when we had a Moulana Radio spreading hate in Swat.

Her current stunt seems to be aimed at aiding BLA. Its now open with irrefutable proof that BLA militants were fabricated and paid for by enemies of Pakistan and even so called friends that want to sabotage Gwadar, they got paid per killing and bombing. ISPR has been vocal in showing surrenders and re integration of former fighters into society. Instead of jailing them its giving pardons and creating jobs. Terrorism has gone down by huge levels and moving towards permanent peace. And its not just a media propaganda because the impact is really showing in our everyday lives in Pakistan.

Its Pakistan and state have right to persue their point of view.. even if there are people getting money from gov ministries whats wrong they are pro Pak and she has problem with that.

She must ask from bangladesh govt who was funding and the mukti bahni and whats the motive behind hanging the pro Pakistan people. My be this time she wants an award from indian govt.

And she was nowhere seen asking the SC to stop the transmission of radio stations run by likes of Mangal Bagh and Fazlu. Ofcourse she is infuriated by the praises that had been showered by none less than CJP for Pak Army for recovering Owais Shah. Seems she is next in line for accountability and such are frantic acts to evade it. Sorry "Buzurg Khatoon", no one except likes of Jew tv and host Amir Liaquat/Hamid Mir Ghaddar are gona hire U today for this drama of today.

May be you can learn a lesson here if you let your military run some businesses publicly may be they would cut on the corruption they are involved in.

And i agree with her thinking that only Mullah Fazlu shiuld be allowed to run radios in Pakistan. He should be the sole actor in Pakistani movies & dramas too. He should also run for PMship.

Feel pity for her. After making it to top ten most hated persons in Pakistan, she had to hear shocking news of army recovering CJ SHC son and praise showered by Chief Justice. People are loving armed forces even more. Such traumas can lead to loosing senses.

Army run welfare projects only for Ex, on duty soldiers and for the families of martyred and handicapped soldiers.

Army is assisting all governments by running such programmes, as civilian governments alone not able to fulfill these responsibility. These projects are on since long, I myself witness to these.

Could this woman tell us which countries are providing financial support (directly or indirectly) to her NGO. What are the actual motives and subjects of her NGO - we are not interested what she publicises.

May be you can learn a lesson here if you let your military run some businesses publicly may be they would cut on the corruption they are involved in.
