How many Indians have reservations or are opposed to Citizenship Amendment Bill?

I am getting the first details. I mean let's be honest here, it will unnecessarily harass those parts of the population that have very little access and very little understanding of official documents. It's kind of targeted against Muslims, but as in the NRC Assam case a lot of Hindus also got caught in the mix. I could have accepted such a bill after the Modi govt had delivered 15 years of 8%+ growth but not as of now..The biggest problem lurking as leviathan on the borders of the subcontinent is climate change, which will affect 300 million at least, most of them in the Bangladesh,West Bengal region...

If Indian subcontinent doesnot tackle that collectively, a blot will forever remain on the population group of South Asia..Untold suffering wrought upon eachother, as people will be denied to pursue life,liberty and property in higher grounds

It is in this context, that behoves upon Muslims of the subcontinent to tone down Islamic triumphalism and on Hindus to lay off with historical injustices. Either we can be at the frontline of Global climate change or we can be at the mercy of climate change....

Anyways I would want to know whether joint action in subcontinent possible or not, or we will be witness to 200 million unnecessary deaths within in the span of a decade..and a complete collapse of the economy


The Indian subcontinent has some experience of this...The fact that British could stay in the subcontinent for around 150 years instead of say 50 years is because they completely broke the will of the people through repeated famines...Lack of food completely breaks the will of the people and kind of stays on as genetic memory even after food is later procured......Lack of action against climate change means a fate worse than 1980s sub Saharan Africa for a 1,000 years for the subcontinent

The Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) is a bill, originally proposed in the Lok Sabha on 9 December 2019, amending the Citizenship Act of 1955.

If the Bill is passed in the Parliament, refugees from communities, namely, Hindu, Jain, Buddhist, Sikhs, Parsi or Christiancoming from Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Pakistan will be eligible for Indian citizenship.[1][2][3] Importantly, it is only applicable to the people from these communities.[4] The Bill relaxes the requirement of residence in India from 11 years to 6 years for these migrants.[5]

The Union Cabinet cleared the Bill for Parliament on 4 December 2019 and was passed by the Lok Sabha on December 10. The Bill is to be presented to the Rajya Sabha on 11 December 2019.[6]

I am not opposed to Citizenship Amendment Bill, but I am opposed to Nationwide NRC, as 30-40 years down the line we have to accomodate Bangladesh anyway! There is no point in stonewalling Bangladesh as Global Warming has become runaway and we should have better priorities..I don't know whether Pakistan would join India in this fight against Global Warming, but we need every hand we can get as this would be a calamity of epic proportions....

Need of the hour is 8-9 percent economic growth so that inevitably when the climate migrants from other parts of South Asia do stream into India, we are better prepared to accomodate them

It will unnecessarily harrass those from the lowest sections of the society and obviously those from Bangladesh..It will also harass those who have been internally displaced because of calamities like naturally disasters and riots..the internal migration of the poorest Indians because of some tragedy will be deliberately missed by such commissions ...I mean these things donot suit a country where vast of majority of daily life runs on certain amount of goodwill..You cannot just force Western style prim and proper decorum when you donot have western style gdp per capita..I am not saying India doesnot have right to such Western style bureaucracy, but most would agree that it is bureaucracy that is the bane of India..An elite class that is not sympathetic to the needs of the people and on top of that wholly and fully unproductive. Less bureaucracy is the answer and such Commissions are step in the wrong direction...They just increase employment of the non-productive class...For example as much meticulous as German bureaucracy may be, it is the entrepreunerial genius of few good Germans that makes Germany Germany and nobody else...and it's entrepreunerial spirit that would pull the subcontinent out of the Climate Crisis

It is unacceptable to punish your own citizens for the "sins" of others. Islamic triumphalism, if any, comes from Pakistan, not from the Muslims of India. It is unacceptable to punish your own citizens for the "sins" of others. Islamic triumphalism, if any, comes from Pakistan, not from the Muslims of India. The best thing to have ever happened is the complete lack of terror attacks on civilians after the 2008 Mumbai attacks...previously what used to happen is 20 or so mostly Hindus would get killed in a bomb blast which would lead to 50-60 Muslims getting killed in return ...In the attack of Mumbai, big banking billionaires like Yes Bank chiefs got killed..This led to complete revamp of anti-terror monitoring...for the longest time therefore there has not been any Hindu-Muslim riot with 100+ killed, and it would stay that way in the near future...revamping of security measures in order to protect the richest of Hindus has led to a lot of security for the most vulnerable of Muslims

Bangladeshis has been pushing bengalis in to India. Majority of them hindus. But they end up in NE states where ethnicity is more important then religion. But BJP want to grant citizenship to all hindus from Bangladesh, millions of them already got it but poor ones were left out. Number of Pakistani hindus are like 20 thousand or something.

This bill set the date to 2014, so its not like anyone can go and claim Indian citizenship now. Fact is no Indian state is ready to accept more hindus from anywhere let alone Bangladesh. This bill is basically to **** muslim citizens of India and in process **** NE states. This muslim vs hindu issue is what works for BJP, they play on insecurity of hindus.
