After receiving Green light from Indian Air Force, Government of India and Russia are working on final contract for jointly developing the much-delayed fifth-generation fighter aircraft Fifth Generation Fighter Aircraft (FGFA) based on T-50 Air-frame.

According to the Draft Contract, Russia will be handing over India nearly Three T-50 Prototypes in next three years which will be used to as Test-bed before FGFA aircraft based on Indian customisation will be developed.

This Prototype will also be used by Indian Air Force for flight evaluation of the aircraft and to also test strength and weakness of the aircraft by Special Test Pilot team which will be created to support this Project in India. Indian Team until now were only given aircraft demonstration in Russia and were very keen to evaluate them but now the majority of the evaluation will be carried out in India.

India already has dropped plans to develop a two-seater FGFA to keep the development cost down and has made plans to invest $6 Billion each by India and Russia to develop nearly 43 improvements over the T-50 in major areas to improve stealth, supercruise, advanced sensors, networking and combat avionics over current T-50 aircraft developed for Russian air force .

T-50’s radar cross section (RCS) stands at 0.1-0.5m which is significantly higher than the F-22 ( 0.0001 ) and the F-35 (0.0015) according to latest reports and India and Russia will work together to further improve radar cross section. Russians to keep the price low and to meet Russian air force requirements have done some compromise in the stealth element but FGFA will have a higher degree of stealth.

India already has rejected AL-41 engines and instead has opted for Izdeliye 30 which has been developed from scratch and features improved thrust characteristics, better fuel efficiency, fewer moving parts, and subsequently improved reliability and lower maintenance costs. Russians initially will be using AL-41 engines equipped but will later move to Izdeliye 30 Engines but Indian varaint will have some performance improvement.

Avionics of FGFA will be based on Indo-European origin and will repetition of the successful Sukhoi-30MKI experiment which has worked fine for India till now. N036 Belka advanced active electronically scanned array radar system in FGFA will receive some tweaks with an addition of Indian and European weapons and sensor systems and will be more open to get future Indian weapons as Plug and Play mode.

PAK FA '509" with its LEVCONs deflected.
The PAK FA and the Naval LCA are two aircraft which field the LEVCONs for increased controlability at low speed and high alphas.

There is no such thing as Naval LCA. It stands cancelled and junked.

It was not possible for India to buy an aircraft named PAK-xx

Simply a Draft and you are jumping around in happiness seriously ?? Grow up kid

For a squadron of fgfa we have wait till 2030...bad policies and purchase system.

Its possible to have naval LCA, in fact the wingspan ratio and thrust to weight looks great vis a vis to F/A-18.

But of course the tejas manufacturers never got round to manufacturing a true naval prototype for the indian navy to test, especially with improved landing gears, stabiliser, arrestor hooks etc.

Maybe the actual reason is bcos the navy doesnt feel that the tejas is suitable for combat roles over water

Indian Navy did its test and knowing the true capability of Tejas manufacturer (HAL) and developer (ADA-DRDO etc) decided to cancel the project.

No time to waste on it. Now going for 57 MRCA's between Rafale M, F-18 SH and Sea Gripen.

My vote to the Rafale M.

Excellent stuff. IAF has done a detailed combing of the platform and raised some very valid requirements, put the money where real development is needed. But I don't know a batch of jets with 1 M cross section is really that bad- I mean....our immediate threat is Pakistan....I wonder if we could've taken in one batch and then waited for improved Pak
fas to come in later.

sometimes the truth may be obscurred.

The tejas cant do A2A refuelling.

Also, usually a aircraft carrier will keep a plethora of aircraft for different operations.

Maybe the tejas cannot fulfill any role of a naval fighter jet

Not maybe but certainly as per Indian Navy the Tejas cannot fulfill the Indian Navy's requirements of a naval fighter jet.

And it's finished it's over.

Soon Indian Air Force will also cancel.

The damn flying object can't even fire its gun after 50+ years of development with free flowing funds.

. . .
LC

Naval LCA is not cancelled. MK1 was tech demonstrator while MK2 will be with improvements and better engine.

Indian Navy the sole potential operator has told HAL-ADA to f*ck off.

I don't see what anything can be said about Naval Tejas.

It's a dead duck.
