This question is to my Israeli folks in the forum. To me Aliyah comes across a political Zionist agenda which clearly looks at increasing the population of "true Jews" in Israel.

Whether you like it or not, the book of Deutoronomy had a lot of contradictory stuff and if you are unbiased you should know that basing any judgment on such an old book without applying humanitarian thoughts is principally and morally wrong. I find some Jews equating Palestinians to Amelakites which is sadly disgusting as the Deutoronomy calls on to everyone to eliminate out of pure political agenda.

Before I state facts as to why Aliyah happens from an individual motive (the state motive of increasing Jewish population is very clear)

The Red circles represent where there is still small but prevalent presence of anti semitism. But if you really see, this along with the black circles are ones where Countries are doing badly economically (my mspaint fail :/)

So individual motivation (along with the prevalent notion of importance of Israel to Jews) is to have a better life in Israel economically - in a country which is progressing in all fields, especially science.

Now, this is where the contradiction comes - the State of Israel calls itself a parliamentary republic and as a "Jewish State" which is democratic. Slightly over 20% are Arabs who are Muslims. Jewish world population in Israel is 42% (which has increased considerably over the decades thanks to aliyah)

Now, if Israel is trying to bring back and reform the nation supposedly it was 3000 years ago (when borders were not clear, whether god was El or Yahweh was not clear - borders of Canaan are probably within Israel now) - would it not make sense to offer all its seeming notion of 13 tribes (assuming nobody converted, nobody intermarried), not just ones who are Jews? And how do you confirm it , genetically o_O?

Also the clearly Zionist agenda of increasing Israeli population sidelining the minority population gives more impression of increasing inequality in the theist republic.

Here's a list of world population of Jews

You will note that most Jews are settled in "non enemy states" (aka non Muslim states except may be Turkey and some parts of Eastern Europe). So how is Aliyah justified? Especially in today's modern age which is (especially the West) liberalist and tending towards secularism.

. .
Well for one, you don`t have to be born a Jew to make Aliyah. If you convert and practice Judaism for one year at least, you can make Aliyah.
People who have Jewish relatives can also make Aliyah(I would know as there are so many Christians living here with Jewish relatives that serve the IDF).
Jews come to Israel for many reasons for example:
1.Israel is a developed country and has a much better economy than most.
2.Israel is the only place Jews can truly be Jews without feeling out of place or discriminated against, even if you don`t feel out of place you just want to be with people from your own race and religion.
3.There`s also Zionism that people want to contribute to the only Jewish country in the world and help make it stronger.
4.They want to have the ability to live in Israel and their country of residence.

Point being, there are many reasons but in the end, Israel is the shield and sword that protects Jews worldwide and it`s there to make sure "Never again" isn`t just a phrase written on an Atomic Bomb.

.
Sorry Ptex,

Only point 1 in my opinion makes sense.

This is what you need to Aliya (you need not just be a Jew - you need to prove Jewish ancestry!):

You must show some kind of proof that you are of Jewish descent, having at least one Jewish grandparent. Gather as many of the following documents as you can (all documents should be originals or have an official seal/stamp on them):
Bar/bat mitzvah certificate from you or your parents or grandparents
Ketubah (Jewish marriage contract) from your parents or grandparents
Marriage license from your parents or grandparents
Birth certificates from your parents or grandparents
Death certificate from your parents or grandparents
Letter from a rabbi or synagogue of which you or your parents or grandparents were members, attesting to your Jewish identity
Any other documents that mention your family's Jewish background

Other points:Jews are not really discriminated in many nations including the US (from where the maximum aliyah happens). Anti semitism is very small in most countries where most of the Aliyah happens. Aliyah as a concept has existed even in the past as you may well know - it is not a new political concept after the holocaust - it had everything to do with the "Promised Land"
"Never Again" is a good motto to have. But really, Jews ran away from most of the dangerous places to Israel long back - what is the continuing need to keep this discriminatory policy in place.

Why do have to have practised Jewism? Why should it be that I believe in the word of Deutoronomy which is clearly very violent to say the least. I can agree to people of a nation contributing to its cause but why have Jews from different parts of the world adding on - dont you have enough Jews already? I can understanding providee refugee status to Jews who are coming to your country escaping intolerance - but clearly Aliya is a state policy

In the first link I provided - the author feels it is his/her birthright to come to Israel as a Jew? Really? Because somebody in your bloodline ancestory stayed there 3000 years ago?

Let me quote the author
Let go of the weight that keeps you in the Exile. Get out of your slavery to comfort and materialism. Open your golden cages that you have imprisoned yourselves in and come home.
If you consider yourself a Torah believing Jew, then you should AT LEAST be YEARNING to come to Israel. Maybe you feel you can't because of your fear, or your family obligations for elderly parents or lack of custody for your kids, but a Jew should at LEAST be YEARNING to make aliyah and move to Israel. You should at least be saying, "I'd LOVE to come to Israel, but alas, I cannot, I have to care for my sick, elderly mother who can't be moved". ...And if you are not yearning for Israel, if you are not dreaming of the day when you can come home, and instead are very happy in the cage you live in, there is something FUNDAMENTALLY wrong with your Judaism.

Don't you tax the Arabs in your country too? How can such discrimination exist as state policy?

.
No, we do not tax just Arabs. You clearly have a misguided notion about Israel.
All citizens MUST pay tax. That includes all Jews and Arabs and everyone else, if you are a citizen you pay taxes.
The law since 1970 applies to those born Jews (having a Jewish mother or maternal grandmother), those with Jewish ancestry (having a Jewish father or grandfather) and converts to Judaism (Orthodox, Reform, or Conservative denominations—not secular—though Reform and Conservative conversions must take place outside the state, similar to civil marriages).

You asked for Israelis to tell you their reasons, i told you why Jews come to Israel, whether you choose to believe them or if they are reasonable or not is irrelevant.

And Jews get citizenship, not refugee status, because they are automatically granted citizenship when the laws of return are met.

.
You lack basic comprehension skills. Please read what I said again.

Do their opinions on Aliyah count? Do they not PAY TAXES too? Can they not get their own relatives over , if they want to work honest Arabs in your country?

So how is this any different from what I said earlier?

You asked for Israelis to tell you their reasons, i told you why Jews come to Israel, whether you choose to believe them or if they are reasonable or not is irrelevant.

I asked Israelis - how they justify to the world, not to themselves. Clearly Aliyah is very religiously motivated - you have not answered my issues regarding it. I am not satisfied with your reason. What you gave me where Individual reasons motivating a Jew to come to Israel. I am asking what is the state's real reason?

Is it not that want to establish as a Jewish motherland - irrespective of whether or not you actually had ancestry? How can they define it as home, just because your holy book says so?

Why must not the Arabs who have equal claim have some say in the matter? They could be converted Jews from Eons ago - who are you to ascertain someone's ancestry?

Also the Bible's histrocity is very questionable - a true rational humanist would be not be able to empathize with this concept even if he has certain sympathies towards Jews for what they have gone through.

More importantly how do you convince the Arabs of your nation , that this Aliyah system is good for them as well?

This country is first and foremost Jewish and only then a democracy. Jewish homeland, not a Democracy homeland. Was this not clear when people say Israel is the only Jewish country?
Is there any other country like Israel? No. So you cannot compare America or Britain or Germany to Israel.
The whole point of having Jews come to Israel is to increase the country`s Jewish identity, economy and military strength.
That being said the country is a democracy and only those that truly love the country will ever be welcome here. This does not include Jews that hate Israel just as much as it does not include Arabs that hate Israel.
This however does include Druze Arabs, Zionists of every religion whether Christian, Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist who are already citizens.

.
The whole point of having Jews come to Israel is to increase the country`s Jewish identity, economy and military strength.

Oh Really - who gave you this birthright to make it a pure Jewish identity in 1950? The BIBLE o_O. Wow. So how's this different from what the Muslim world is trying to say about the politico-Zionist nexus in the country- you are not even rejecting it.

This was how Fascism and Nazism started. Extremely strong nationalistic tendencies which focussed on narrowing identity than appreciating the diversity and respecting everybody in the land.

Bottomline: If Israel wants to be accepted as a responsible nation, it should take care of all its people (ALL being the key) and not act as the "shield" and "sword" of Jews but as a responsible nation who can take care of all its people and give rights to people who migrate there legally, irrespective of color, class, creed or religion. It can be still Jewish of course - but with clear separation of state and religion.

And yeah, Aliyah - sounds extremely racist to me. (Not that Jews are a nation or race, both of which are extremely debatable)

I hope Israel wakes up to the modern world , not just in science, but also to humanist secularism.

.
Israel should give the 2 state solution and stop threatening Arab states around it with war a try and stop becoming American imperialism tool in the middle east, that helps too, then talk. Obviously Jews are highly intelligent people, Israel should be setting a good example as a so called protectorate of jews.

No country should be a proctectorate of any religion. It should be a proctectorate of its nation's citizens - this is the point I am making. It can accept immigrants from other countries and give them refugee status for one generation or until they gain full citizenship.

Israel's agenda is seemingly unquestionable from inside the country - if you do not accept its Zionist ambitions , you are not of the nation.

I don't understand to increase the already prevalent Jewish identity, it makes no sense. As one of the authors above states, you are not a good Jew if you dont live Israel - because God says so and my Torah says so.

Jews are smart people, but are they smart enough to question their own hegemonius attitude in Israel? Why can't they understand covert/overt operations on submission of their own people (arabs in Israel) is not human and moral?

First off Jews are a race, i won`t bother to explain where the name comes from and why it has replaced the Hebrews/Israelites. Go google.

You are beyond ignorant(Taxing Arabs, Aliyah being racist)... Aliyah means ascension to Israel.

This country is not America that all nations come to for a better future, this country became independent for the soul reason of being a safe haven for Jews. Nothing else. Not to teach Arabs about democracy or humanity or human kindness or even how to light a bulb.
It was the invasion by Arabs that allowed for so many of them to be displaced and to be taken over by Israel. Hence the large Arab population.

They have it better than they will ever have in any Arab country and i should know, i`ve more than enough Arab friends tell me so when they visited other Arab countries.

The Druze Arabs chose to stand by the newly independent Israel because they too were persecuted by Muslim Arabs and since then they have become an inseparable part of Israel.

1. Misconception

What Is "Jewish?"
Judaism 101: What Is Judaism? - Jews themselves have rejected the term race for them, rather it is an ethno religious term :/

2. Continuing to show lack of Comprehension and ignorance
You are beyond ignorant(Taxing Arabs, Aliyah being racist)... Aliyah means ascension to Israel.

When I said you tax Arabs too, I meant Arab citizens of Israel (20% population). Like other citizens they get taxed too - however , they do not have a voice for the Aliyah programme run.

Aliyah is the ascension to Israel in particular the "Jews". I called it racist because it looks at supposed misguided policies of "supposed" pure blood jews - when the fact that they are not a race is well established.

And these are only African American Jews who are discriminated against. I am sure for an Arab Muslim trying to prove Jewish descent must be equally hard , if not non existent - on in your words, only Jews are inheritors of Israel.

3. Misguided propaganda
This country is not America that all nations come to for a better future, this country became independent for the soul reason of being a safe haven for Jews. Nothing else. Not to teach Arabs about democracy or humanity or human kindness or even how to light a bulb, it was the invasion by Arabs that allowed for so many of them to be displaced and to be taken over by Israel.

Safe Haven for Jews is fine. Actively encouraging the creation of particular nationalistic (aka Zionist) agenda encouraging well off Jews around the world to come to your country is not.

The reason I quoted Arabs pay taxes <TOO> was to imply that they too are citizens of your nation. And nobody of that community will ever support active Zionist support for aliyah. I have already established the individual motivation of people currently - it is mainly from states not too well off, coming to Israel with full state support.

It was not the invasion by Arabs that allowed so many to be displaced. Read up on history or please do tell me about the history they teach you in Israel - give me references if you are pulling half assed stuff like that.

AND THE CONCLUSION - hence the large Arab population. Wait - lets check your line of reasoning again. "it was the invasion by Arabs that allowed for so many of them to be displaced and to be taken over by Israel." Hence the large arab population?

I don't get your flow of your logic.

4. Comparisons to Justify means of wrongdoing
They have it better than they will ever have in any Arab country and i should know, i`ve more than enough Arab friends tell me so when they visited other Arab countries.

See, I did not bring up if they are better or not. I am actually talking subversion of voices, and perpetrating cultural genocide by importing through state sponsored mechanisms thousands of Jews into the country.

I am asking Israel to the higher road of not saying that we stand for only one meaning. I am asking to recognize people of the homeland and not continuously perpetrate the victim syndrome. It is no longer the Victim - it should look within itself and identify the current victims of wrong state policy.

1.Druze Arabs have their own Zionist leagues and groups that promote Zionism in their own youth.
2.Muslims also promote Zionism regardless of the popular anti-zionistic rhetoric in the Muslim world
3.On May 14, 1948, the day before the expiration of the British Mandate, the Jewish Agency proclaimed independence, naming the country Israel.[75] The following day, the armies of four Arab countries —Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Iraq — attacked Israel, launching the 1948 Arab–Israeli War.
4.Like i said before, Israel was not created to satisfy this miserable region with freedom and economic opportunities.
This country won the lands previously owned by Arabs and while many fled(So called Palestinians), many stayed as well.

Israel is a Jewish state not a higher road. Go to America if you want to have opportunities, the language is easier.

It has long shed it`s victim aura because it didn`t matter in 48 or 67 when multiple armies invaded at once trying to slaughter Holocaust survivors, nor did it matter when suicide bombers came and slaughtered teenagers and children.

Israel is the dominant force of the Middle East, has one of the best Air-Forces in the world and a Nuclear power.

It will never be anything other than the Jewish homeland.

Hey everyone. Up there is exhibit A of Jewish arrogance and sense of superiority over others. some say it is the cause of why their neighbors hate them.
And as you notice from this beautiful piece by renowned artist Ptex you will find it really came from inner feeling of sadness and inferiority and little self assurance by the artist. it also shows his clear sense of victimizing by using some strong words such "slaughter" and "Holocaust survivors" in the same sentence in a clear attempt to bring tears to one's eyes.

Feel free to take pictures everyone next exhibit in 2 minutes. Enjoy.

Druze Arabs make only 1.7% ( Ref: Statistical Abstract of Israel 2009 - No. 60 Subject 2 - Table No. 2 ) while Muslim Arabs make up 16.8% of the population. Muslim Arabs do not support Aliyah in Israel - please explain to me logically why it is good for their tax payer money to host some illegals in their country which the state is legalizing.

The pure apathy you display is really terrible. I was talking about people who have been born there, living for centuries there. Clearly if possible, you would have anyone with slightly divergent views on how the course of the motherland should be, out of the country.

Aliyah is a terrible concept - it is committing cultural and economic genocide, nothing less. I have shown you the statistics - most Jews dont return because they are being ill treated, they return because Israel seems to want them.
