Ironically, the Saudis were in bed with the Muslim Brotherhood in the 1960s and 70s because they were seen as a counterweight against Egyptian-led Nasserism / Pan-Arab nationalism.

But ever since Islamism replaced nationalism in many public spheres across the region, the Saudis began to align themselves with secular military dictators because they started to view the Sunni Islamist groups as a direct threat to the House of Saud and other Gulf monarchies.

Saudi Arabia doesn't want to be challenged by a rivaling Sunni Islamist movement/bloc. It wants to remain the undisputed de facto leader of the Sunni Islamic world, and it knows that it can't do that unless it gets rid of all major rivaling factions, particularly the Muslim Brotherhood.

The problem for the Saudis is that the Muslim Brotherhood is now led by Turkey, a country that wants to promote its own refined version of Sunni Islam at the expense of the ultra-conservative Saudi brand. This is exactly why the Turks are destined to collide with the Saudis at some point in the near future, regardless of Saudi attempts to convince/pressure Erdogan and his political party to abandon the Muslim Brotherhood in exchange for bribes.

Did you see that propaganda thread of some imaginary 3500 anti-Houthi Yemeni soldiers getting captured while in reality that was no more than 50 and 0 of them were Saudi Arabians? Later BBC and every other news channel in the world apologized for their propaganda. That embarrassing thread is still left standing on this section. Kindly address the ancient geographic region (Arabia which predates the notion of Iran by millennia) with the right word. The same region you are praying towards, your name originates from, your religion, many of the words you use on a daily basis when speaking Farsi, your alphabet and many cultural practices that you now consider Farsi.

The alternative universe is some cheap pathetic propaganda of 50 Southern Yemeni troops being captured wearing traditional Southern Yemeni clothing and 10 Sudanese troops and claiming them to be Saudi Arabians.
