MINGORA, Oct 2: The houses of two absconding militants have been converted into primary and middle schools for girls by the local peace committee in Barabandai area of Swat valley.
Both the militants belong to Barbandai area of tehsil Kabal. The committee in the past had also converted two other houses of absconding militants into girl schools and now hundreds of girl students are studying in these schools. However, the boy students are still having no proper building for their school and are studying in tents.
It may be recalled that militants, loyal to Maulana Fazlullah, had torched and blew up several government-run schools in Taliban stronghold Barabadai.
Meanwhile, security forces defused a bomb during search operation in Shakar Dara area of tehsil Matta.
The five-kilogram bomb was planted by suspected militants when they had hold in the area before the military operation. The security forces after getting information that a bomb was spotted in the area rushed to the site. They cordoned off the area and defused the bomb.
