Yeah, he is most likely to go free, and Carrie Lam has apologized personally to victim's parent that her daughter won't able to get her justice. Nothing is never changed, her gov't is now in governance trouble since opposition will now protest violently and brainwash the youngers to riot everytime they don't get what they want. Oppostion is now protesting her to resign and release the rioters. No status quo even since the first day the agenda is not about the extradition treaty, but gaining bargain power in the current trade war and protecting their spy network. So everything return to status quo for now. Nothing change?
What about the murder suspect for that HK girl killed in Taiwan? He go free?
Beijing needs to purge the HKSAR government directly now. There is no other way to restore order.
You really think that this incident has any effect on the trade war bargaining?Yeah, he is most likely to go free, and Carrie Lam has apologized personally to victim's parent that her daughter won't able to get her justice. We know China won't backdown for anything of HK but American gov't may think differently, Trump adminsration once thought China will sign anything under the pressure of tariffs. US only want chaos (with fasle flag) in HK and excuse to embargo China with EU (EU may join due to democratic reason), not sovereignty. As the only consequence is HK gov't become a lame duck. You really think that this incident has any effect on the trade war bargaining?
China resolutely object to US or other country from interfering in HK internal affair, and would NO WAY bargain with sovereignty. That is a prime principle.
Anyway, the extradition law is an issue that I think is not on par with the issues that China is negotiating with in the trade war, those issues are mainly strategic issue that affect the whole nation future.
And regarding US spy network in HK, I don't think they would get any stronger if the extradition law did not pass, so nothing change.
If the US really think they can use HK stability as a bargaining chip, then the American is just wasting a lot of US taxpayer money. We know China won't backdown for anything of HK but American gov't may think differently, Trump adminsration once thought China will sign anything under the pressure of tariffs. They did waste a lots of money, we have reasons to believe that US is indeed involved with this. American really do not understand Beijing but this is one of last chips they can be used. Also the extradition law is started by our CE, not from Beijing. Our CE did make a mistake to propose a extradtion law at this time, and she started with a good heart but the cost is huge for us the Hong Kong people. If the US really think they can use HK stability as a bargaining chip, then the American is just wasting a lot of US taxpayer money.
The extradition law is not something that China really absolutely need to have straight way. It is actually more important to HK. Because it is a loop hole that could be used by criminal that could harm HK safety.

It's conceivable Beijing wants to keep Hong Kong calm for the remainder of 2019 because of the Taiwan election. They did waste a lots of money, we have reasons to believe that US is indeed involved with this. I didn't really look into that matter, but from what I heard some said it may get the HK gov't into judicial review by Court, since there is no legal base in our laws. Also special request looks riskier than the extraditon treaty, where our CE could always make special request without going through the Court, then the suspect will sure JR our gov't like what I said earlier which costs alots of money. The extradion treaty is a better option where it is not only provide the legal base and set the conditions for extradition without any abusion, also the treaty is aimed for other countries that we have no extradtion treaty with before. What important is it can fix our loophole once for all that HK gov't does not need to make special request everytime we face the problem like this. You can always make a special request to that country where the fugitive is hiding
