Hong Kong Leads Euromonitor's Top City Destinations Ranking

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM--(Marketwire -01/16/12)- Hong Kong is now the top tourist destination worldwide trumping London, which held the leading seat in previous rankings, according to Euromonitor International's latest Top 100 City Destinations Ranking.

Hong Kong's 20 million tourist arrivals in 2010 was among the emerging city destinations in Asia Pacific that performed outstandingly well in 2010, making the top 10 cities worldwide for travel and tourism.

Euromonitor International's 2011 edition of its top city destinations ranking looks at 100 of the world's leading and most dynamic cities in terms of international tourist arrivals. The list is built from the results of the market research company's global travel research program. In previous editions, London topped the ranking, however sluggish growth in 2010 and increased competition from other tourist destinations, put the city in third place for 2010. The city, however, remains the most popular city in Europe by far and continues to draw in visitors with its mix of entertainment options, historical sites, art galleries and restaurants.

"It's no surprise that five of the ten leading city destinations on the list are in Asia-Pacific," says Caroline Bremner, head of travel and tourism research at Euromonitor International. "The booming economy of cities like Hong Kong, increased investment in luxury travel and tourist attractions in cities like Singapore, and rising disposable incomes and improved government policies in countries like Vietnam are all key contributors to the region's popularity as a tourist destination."

HongKong rises in all aspects so fast,in December HongKong came out No.1 first time ever in the history in the global financial center rankings.now it claimed the biggest global tourist destination city.Hongkong is a miracle city.

Hongkong and Beijing should be the two best cities to visit in China. (In my opinion, two best cities in East Asia.) One very international and one full of histories. Cities like Shanghai/Shenzhen will not get that high on the list if not for business reasons. As a tourist site, there's no way Shenzhen could beat Hangzhou. Chengdu is another nice city for its laid back culture, food and of course, the Pandas.

Mumbai and Delhi from shining India and No 1 weapons importer are on the 54th and 52th place respectively. Ho Chi Minh and the major Chinese cities are better ranked. Hopefully for Shameful India, there is still the world weapons importer ranking where India is the number 1 and will remain so for the next century to come given that shameful India is devoting all its financial resources not for improving the life of its billion of slumdogs but for weapons procurement from the US war criminals and the Israelis for the benefit of a happy few corrupt Indian politicians.
