Thank you bud. I'm ashamed to say that I never visited Pakistan even though ma Grandpa was from Lahore near Chinnakowindi. I'll definitely visit and spend some time in the near future IA.

I'm working as an IT support manager my hobbies, lemme think about that... Last time I asked someone about their hobby in an interview. I don't really keep a hobby, just a wanderer -- wanna be globetrotter.

No dear, in the US. Alabama precisely. You'll find a lot of blokes there with English and Irish ancestry. AFAIK lot of original settlers were from these two countries.

How large is the Pakistani communities down there I am guessing not to "stereotypes" they mostly own the gas stations and are in the retail sector as in neighboring Texas

Howdy Partner, welcome to PDF, like most of us you probably lurked in the forums, through the threads, and what ever posts made it on social media,and seeing the heated topics and interesting people here.I am myself lurked here for several years until one day I decided to join a few years ago, I say if you hear not to troll and put same banal from time to time you will enjoy your time, many rookies during their first few months here get addicted to PDF likewise the same but then the banal gets stale and you kinda go awol for a bit, so as a poster my sugeestion please dont try to fit in be yourself here many of us have differing views on almost about everything some even pressure you think a certain viewpoint through insults that happens a lot here so be yourself here.Interesting family backround story would like to know more.

Texas, not in my lifetime. I'll better go to Virginia and live in the woods. Cali is kinda crazy; the weather, very fast moving life style. I don't even know all my neighbors here.

There are quite a few in Hoover. Hardworking entrepreneurs all around. We have a couple of Pakistani restaurants which are having good business at the moment.

Yep, only up to the mid. Nebraska is kinda cool, but ain't gonna visit there. Growing up in the South or be it any where in the States would be freakin fun till junior high. You want to hear the Cowboy accents of us?

Been to Egypt once. It was before 2011, IIRC. My mom's relatives lives there in Philae.

Come visit Pakistan, I suggest with one of the older generation and get to know relatives, if they are still there.

Unlike most Pakistani Americans who brought their whole khandan to US, UK, Canada, etc., most of my family is still in Pakistan and those outside are deeply connected there.

When I go to Pakistan, I mostly visit my relatives in Lahore and Faisalabad, we also have several villages in the area.

Even though I am American, I spent most of my childhood and significant part of my life in Faisalabad. I grew very attached to my country, moreso than other Pakistani Americans. Plus being able to speak and read/write Urdu and Punjabi is rare nowadays in the West.

I also studied under Dr. Israr Ahmad, from whom I learned alot about Islam, Allama Iqbal, Quaid e Azam, patriotism to the country, and the divine protection of Pakistan.

No matter how much we hide, people here in CA picks up our accent asks where are we from? But to be frank, I don't swallow or emphasis on letters like the natives do in their dialect. Nah, I don't wanna do it. May be because it's a blessing growing up with some 'English' kids. My besties are having proper British ancestors. I like their slang, songs especially the Coldplay. May be there's a connection, who knows. But hey, you shoulda talk to my maternal uncle then . He hangs out with the natives a lot and that has an effect on his lang. as well. For him every carbonated drink is nothing but Coke . Anyways, bless your heart and have good evening. I'm going out for some food and then straight to bed.
