History of Muslim Scientific Advance

Currently there is a debate thread in my country about Muslim's invention and scientific advance during pre-Mongol invasion period. Some of my country men argue that it is NOT Muslim's invention in general but actually Muslim just absorb the knowledge from Persia in particular. It was Persian Muslim who advance the Muslim Science. While the other fraction said, it was Arab Muslim who actually advance Muslim science. I am not sure which fraction of my country men are correct. Since both side are poor knowledge of history of middle east. Please help me explain.
