(RTTNews) - Film industry executives from the U.S. and India have signed a deal to strengthen production, distribution, and commercial ties.
The pact, signed in Los Angeles, will see the two industries produce co-productions and encourages Indian filmmakers to shoot in the U.S. The deal further formalizes partnerships in the last few years between the two industries.
Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa said at the event, which was held at Paramount Pictures Studios in Hollywood: "[This deal] reinforces our city's commitment to attracting international production . . . we enthusiastically welcome further Indian production."
MPAA President Bob Pisano added: "The numerous co-productions with Indian studios over the past several years are evidence of a growing bond between our two industries. Today's action is an important step toward furthering that growth."
The two industries are the largest film producers in the world.
