If someone's parents are Shikh, or Hindu, Muslim or Christian, then that person is by birth a Shikh, Hindu, Muslim or Christian, it's not by choice. Choice comes in the later part of the life when one might decide to follow the religion he got by birth, or one can convert to some other religion or one may decide to become an atheist.
